Which love?

Do You only love me Lord
Because it is Your job?
Or because You have created me
This wondrous unique blob?

And if it’s nothing I have done
Can I still expect someone
To love me as I am?

Isn’t that conditional love
Between one woman and one man?
If it weren’t conditional
Would not every woman, love every man?

Is conditional love ok?
It makes me feels so guilty
And if it is, can I be proud
Of winning someone’s heart?

Unconditional love means loving someone just as they are in all their God given uniqueness. Each of us is made in perfect uniqueness. There is only one "you"!

because you are you, not because He has to, but because He wants to.

Good questions! As hard as we try, I believe humans are 'conditional' on love.

God's love on the other hand is totally unconditional. He separates the sin from the person, and regardless of what we do, that displeases Him, He still loves us!

Though we love our children and others the same, we tend to hate someone for the 'things' they do. It's hard for us to separate the 'bad' things people do, from the actual person.

We love the best we can being in human form and not perfection. God is perfection and therefore can love in perfection. Love is the greatest of all things.

Is it ok? Yes, it's ok, to love as much as were humanly possible, though we should always strive to do better!
We all fall short, but God loves us anyway!
God created all things for Him! He loves every one of His children! Including you!

And by all means, he meant for us to love each other, the best we could

Welcome to Passions in Poetry. Thank you for sharing your poetry. I hope that you will continue to share with us. You know when you love someone when you are willing to do anything for them... giving your life for them included. God layed down His life for us when we didn't even want to have any kind of relationship with him. That's what unconditiional love is all about. And believe me, we will never understand that kind of love.
