I sat outside
in the dawn hours
to watch the sun rise
beautiful
in all it does
in all it brings us
will I ever see it again
could I ever know this feeling again

I'm leaving soon
and I'll always remember this dawn
remember the colors of God's paint
the beauty of the brush strokes
the simple peace it brings me

I'm leaving soon
to join the rest
who've gone before
to see the family that I've lost
to play again like a child
will I see them
my little sister and brother
will I get to hold them

I'm leaving soon
though I'm sad to go
I know it's for the best
I guess God knows
what He's doing
when He takes away a life
when He takes away a future
when He says it's time to go

I'm leaving soon
but at least I got to see
another dawn

Marcy, this is wonderful! Another dawn, I love it! Very simplistic in beauty and thankfulness. This is a treasure!

What a wonderful promise.  Life is but a vapor and then we are soon leaving.  This could be our last dawn and then we will be joined with our loved ones that have gone on before.  As you are, I am looking forward to it.  Nicely written.

We get used to the status quo,
Most say stop when it's time to go
But if the Lord says "Come with Me"
Then surely the Best is yet to be!

I enjoyed your poem which you wrote with a different perspective--not a death which but rather in acceptance of the appointment we all have, which is for the most part sooner than we think or may personally wish for.

Dear Allstaria22

This is such a beautiful piece, so peaceful, yet wistful, and so reminds one of the grace and beauty of God's Hand.

Thanks for sharing your wonderful work.
Should be in the book.
