In the stillness of the morning,
As dawn ushers in a new day,
A sparkling blanket of moisture,
Replaces the night's deep gray.
Nature is waking around me,
As I near the tranquil pond,
Ducks in perfect formation,
Fly into the great beyond.
Somewhere in the distance,
I hear a rooster crow,
Bunnies at play in the meadow,
Warmed by the sun's soft glow.
Frogs are gracefully leaping,
As I near the waters edge,
Cattails lining the shoreline,
Make an impressive hedge.
A turtle slowly trudges,
Along the mossy bank,
Further down a little fawn,
Alert as he timidly drank.
Lilacs with blossoms withered,
Seem reaching for the light,
While roses on a trailing vine,
Cast shades of delicate white.
This must be a taste of heaven,
A glimpse of our Lord's backyard,
Where doves are gently cooing,
As angels graciously guard.
Oh how peaceful this morning,
On this day You've started anew,
Refreshing my soul on this path,
As I walked hand in hand with You.

How beautiful - I am glad that you, too have a place just like this...for as I read this, I was transported [from my work desk] to a lovely scene I usually only get to see on the weekends...

Well done!

Bonnie; This is so peaceful and serene. I actually feel refreshed after reading it. You have a magical way of doing that! A master poet with a paint brush for a pen.

Bonnie, AAhh, You placed me in a dream state as I walked to the pond with you. The surroundings, you allowed me to visualize.
A beautiful and peaceful sight it was. Just a taste of heaven to refesh us sometimes. Enjoyed the serenity. Thank you marcy

This is a poem I could read over and over and over again. It is really that wonderful, and so peaceful. It is hynotizing, just thinking about each line. Reminds me of those take me away commercials, for Calgon, but even better!

Bonnie if you live in a place like this, and you get to wake to this every morning, then I'm on my WAY! If this is so, then I can see where all this beautiful poetry comes from!
You have also taken me to a wonderful place, with your imagery it is a site to behold.

Bonnie, forgive me. Septsong, you have a great sense of humor. Now, WhtDve, if we don't have a place such as Bonnie has described, then we run right out and get a box of Calgon ( outdoor-breeze, I suggest )
get in a tub and.....what then, Stepsong?
Lord, I find that lady funny.    marcy

PS: Still love your poem, but gonna buy Calgon too.
