I thought I saw Him in a rosebud
A long, long time ago
More wondrous was the beauty
Than anything I’d know

But the rosebud was so fragile
And the petals didn’t last
I lost Him there along the way
In moments of my past

The petals of a rose bud
Could never be a trough
For storms most heavy waters
To pour and trickle off

And so I thought I’d weather
The elements alone
For I was strong and willing
To face sorrow on my own

Without a God beside me
At the helm I nobly stood
Knowing that I followed
In a pathway that was good

Without a clear direction
Or tenets in my youth
I couldn’t steer the course of life
Or fully know the truth

So lost was I upon the sea
Without His holy name
Until I thought I saw Him glow
Within a candle’s flame

In a fragile little candle
That lit the darkest night
I felt His mighty power
In the humble candle light

If such magnificence was wrought
From subtle candle glows
Why not an equal magnitude
In petals of a rose

There is a God before me
I am witness to His grace
He sits beside me in my strife
With every day I face

I realize now all that was missed
In songs that I had sung
I thought I saw Him in a rosebud
Once when I was young

Liz, Isn't He glorious! Your poem speaks of the humility of the little things we take for granted until, in them we see God. We are
blessed to be in fellowship with people, like you, who remind us, He is. This is a loving and beautiful tribute to God and your faith. This poem made my heart fill up. marcy

Dear Elizabeth,  I couldn't see how I had missed this until I went back and looked at the dates.  It certainly is beautiful and worth a re-run.  Love, Joyce
