I went to church this morning
God didn't care what I wore
He was just glad to see me
That is for sure

I didn't go there
To put on a show
Or to make anyone think
That I was really great

I just went there to worship
The one that I adore
I love to sing praises
To him the King of all Kings

(Even though my voice
Sounds more like noise)

It doesn't matter to God
How good a person you think that you are
It only matters to him
How humble you are

If you stand and you pray
Saying I thank God
That I'm not like other men
I give all my tithe
And I'm never tempted to sin

You then have a block of wood
Blinding your eyes
While you pick out splinters
Out of other people's eyes

I go to church in spite of people like you
For I know I need the love of the brethren
The Sprit filled few
Who don't sit in judgement
But leave that to God
And love me anyway
No matter how many times
My feet slip off
The path
That leads me to God.

Dear friend; I love this poem! My sentiments exactly. It's such a joy to come here and see you've presented another lovely poem that will inspire me and help me feel that I'm not alone in the way I feel. You always manage to do that for me. Love, Ellie

Septsong, I just needed to hear this, thank you. You sum up my feelings too.

"The Sprit filled few
Who don't sit in judgement
But leave that to God
And love me anyway"

Amen! I sure appreciate you (everyone here does) and we love you. You are such a blessing and bring all the honor & glory to God. Just keep on writting.  marcy

hi SS..
wonderful words of wisdom and strength of faith.
so much truth in what you say here about others judging...
indeed there is only one pair of eyes whose
judgements will matter.
thanks for the reminders
take care, jm

We all need that support from other believers. You're right, He don't care what we have on, but what's in our heart and minds.

The biggest turn off for non-believers I think is the judging people do. I say it all the time, non-christians seem to be less judgemental than Christians. It is not for us to judge, but that is God's domain.

For how often do we pick apart others, when we have the beam in our own eye. So full of truth Septsong! I love it! It reminds me, not sure of the exact quote, but usually what we say about others, or pick on, is what we ourselves do.
EXCELLENT work here!
