A jigsaw puzzle of pieces that never fit
regardless how hard I worked on it
pretty much describes my former life
that held little joy and endless strife

I believed in a God, yet felt so alone
with mountains of problems I thought I owned
Five growing children and finances tight
I worked fast and hard late into each night

Our Lord persued me relentlessly
(in retrospect, it's clear to see)
sending customers who knew Him well
for homes I was licensed to sell

Then my daughter's friend's home burned
While they stayed with us, I learned
scriptures she'd read and praises sing
though she'd lost every material thing

She'd offer sincere beautiful prayers
in efforts to ease OUR cares
With four precious kids, she'd just divorsed
a guy who'd used physical force

She had no job or other means
but a faith I'd never seen
Told me about Christian radio
to learn while on the go

She moved but by all she'd left
I'd never been more impressed
Then from pastors on the radio
our real God I came to know

Puzzle pieces all fell into place
as I embraced His loving grace
Learning His control and mercy
brought joy and peace to me

In my case there was a period of time in which the dawning took place. (Slow learner)    Many contributed to affirming my faith to the point I longed to  relinquish my ever failing control to Christ's certainty.  Early on, I'd learned only to fear God and always felt guilty for not being able to love Him as I knew I should.  It's extremely hard, if not impossible, to love who we fear, so learning of His love for us removed that huge stumbling block.

Mom how well I remember Joan! And all that she showed us. I also made mention of this in my challenge poem as well. She certainly got the ball rolling, and what faith she has.
God certainly worked through her in all her misfortune to show others about HIM!

Thank you for not letting up on me. For caring enough to help me see HIM.
God bless you and I love you MUCH!

Sandgrain, what a lovely way to pay tribute to someone who helped you along the path...you don't suppose, do you, that this friend that you took in was indeed an angel?

Wht Dove, I had this longing but somehow never found a way to make it real until Joan showed me.
Sunshine, I call Joan my angel and have always said how ironic that I thought we were helping her, only to find she gave us the keys to everlasting life in Christ.  Had she not been in such grave circumstances, her faith would probably gone right over my head at that point in time.  I always try to remember this when something goes wrong...God can use it in a mighty way.

Hi Sandgrain!
This is an excellent testimony! You are perceptive and wise, for seeing God at work in your life. It's great how those puzzle pieces fit together with His help! I had that same stumbling block, sometimes I still do. Bless you for sharing this!

Dear sandgrain,
I loved your testimony. I wish the words would come how I feel about God in You! From the beginning, the fear of God to the finished scene, when the puzzle fit.
Now, I know where the sign representing
"Uncle Sam Wants You!!!" originated from. AS I read your poem I envisioned God holding this sign in His Hands, facing and pointing His finger to you, with HIS picture saying, "I want you."
  Thank you  for sharing this.
I can screw up the nicest thoughts when I put them on paper, it doesn't reflect what I meant to say, sometimes. Had I not made this correction, you would have known I wasn't trying to imply Uncle Sam was after ya.{smile} marcy
