Prelude to Poem:

~*I have always seen myself as the awkward and less attractive caterpillar, waiting to become a butterfly, only to be denied.  But, instead of being bitter, cynical or hopeless, I choose to now be optimistic, and I wrote this short poem to show that I see it as a learning experience, that the hard things make us stronger, and that we must all suffer through rain to gain insight into ourselves and into life itself before we can become that beautiful person we long to be.  I know and have faith that God will someday allow me to become that butterfly.

~MY LIFE LESSON~

"Oh!  The awkwardness, the longing and the ever familiar isolation!"
Sighed the caterpillar,
"Why the struggle?"
The caterpillar asked in sorrow
"For your wings," then said the Lord

Very nice metaphor, Melissa!
Are you a honeybee, or a butterfly? Welcome!  You'll find lots of optimism here. I know God allows you to be that beautiful person, we just have to allow him.

dear Melissa; Wonderful words of wisdom.
Now here's one for you... God has already given you the wings, you can't see them because they are in your heart where they belong. True Beauty comes from within, don't forget! Ellie

Melissa, I have to agree with Ellie, your wings are definitely there, they show with your sweet words.  Sounds to me like you already are that little butterfly.  Bonnie

Melissa, Welcome to Spirituals!!
My dear, just so happens I read a little story about a caterpillar of late. A lonely widower found this caterpillar in a corner of his home. He watched it daily. First sign of breaking out of the shell, he decided to give it a hand. So gently he dismembered the caterpillar's cage, only to find the most beautiful butterfly revealed. Except, she couldn't fly. He sang, stroked and swooshed it around, holding it ever so gently but she could not fly. He read up on caterpillars and found, if freed prematurely, they are incomple, can not fly! Oh, no. He gently placed the butterfly compactly perfect back into its cage, glueing the pieces back together and placing her back in her spot. In a couple of days he checked, the cocoon now opened and the butterfly was gone. Oh the joy of letting nature takes its course. Now, the beautifly he tried to free prematurely was free to fly and be a beautiful butterfly, just as God intended.
Just wait, you will fly and be beautiful, so start cracking your cocoon open here. marcy

Welcome Melissa! God makes no mistakes. There is beauty within each of us. It is for us to discover. You do have those wings, just give them up to God and soar!

I love your poem!

Melissa, I love the image of a butterfly.
I am reminded of a quote "what the caterpillar calls the end, the world calls a butterfly." Lao Tze Tao.

He also said:

"Know the Masculine, cleave to the Feminine
Be the valley for everyone.
Being the valley for everyone
You are always in virtue without lapse
And you return to infancy.

Know the White, cleave to the Black
Be a model for everyone.
Being the model for everyone
You are always in virtue and free from error
You return to limitlessness.
Know Glory but cleave to Humiliation
Be the valley for everyone".

I think you can to that list act as the caterpillar, and you will be the butterfly.

ok my point, you have porven in your words that you are ideed the butterfly gliding gently on the breeze how else could you see beauty that you put into words. Fly.
