Explain...how does futuristic faith explain I will be?  You will be what?

I wanted to make the worlds shortest reply, but I just couldn't help myself but ask.  It might have gone something like this...
Huh?

I will be... alot to think about, it is hard question. What will I be in the future.
thanks for giving me a lot to think about.
three words can pose great questions some times.

I pose another, everyone ask yourself

I am a relic I am just a petrified cry Wheeled out once a year, a cenotaph souvenir
The applause nails down my silence

I see liberals I am just a fashion accessory
People send postcards
And they all hope I'm feeling well I retreat into self-pity, it's so easy Where they patronise my misery

The sadness will never go Will never go away
Baby it's here to stay

"I will be" says nothing. To be is to exist. Are you promising to exist? And what is a promise but mere words. Why not make a committment. Now! Ask Christ to come in. Give yourself to God. Does not your future depends on it. Or you may not even have a future. Think about it, faterider.

Newell,

From your statement to faterider, I assume that you know that this person is without Christ? For you surely wouldn't make that presumption of judgment, would you?

As for commitment, if you mean human commitment, what would possibly undergird that and make it more easily fulfilled to perfection as opposed to a promise? To my understanding, what the world needs is not to be told that they need to "commit", if by that you mean human commitment. They need to be told to see what has been already provided to them by a loving and gracious God, free of charge; they need to be shown what has already been done for them so that they may believe it and thereby receive life. It's not at all about what they have to do. The direction of salvation is from God to man, not from man to God, otherwise all you have is just one more religion to put with the rest.

If by commit you mean to rest fully in God's provision for salvation thereby not relying on your own merit or deeds, than I can agree with you. Commit, in this day and age and culture is usually understood to mean something along the lines of a promise, multiplied to a greater degree, so we have to be very careful when we communicate God's plan of salvation the we choose terms that clearly express it, so as to avoid confusion.

I would rather hear " I will be" than " I will not be" which is very negative. saying I will be, shows a hope for the future. Perhaps thinking about a decision that might be made in the future, This was a very interesting comment. And I wish you well faterider. floria
