This Lonely School

No one use to talk to me
be a friend or share my thoughts
as I walk the halls of this lonely school
I was ridiculed,teased and fought

I would walk home alone
as the tears would streak my face
wondering over and over again
why people looked at me with such disgrace

Once at home my mom
would comfort me in her arms
telling me the story of Jesus
and how He would keep me safe from harm

But today she handed me His book
called the New Testament
and in tears mom said"read this
for you need the knowledge that He sent"

I closed my door to my room
as I opened the book upon my bed
and I started to read
all the words that Jesus said

Page by page I saw
Jesus knew what I had been through
for everywhere He went
there were people who treated him cruel

Yet Jesus handled hate with love
ridicule with humbleness
no matter what was none to him
He loved no one no less

His birth His life His death
drew a clear picture for me
that by the shedding of his blood
I would always be full and free

That in His resurection
He became my best friend
and He would always be there for me
unconditionally loving me till the end

I laid the good book down
falling fast asleep
knowing in my heart
that what you sow is what you reap

I awoke to a new day
and a new life for me to start
I thanked mom with a kiss
for last night Jesus came to live in my heart

Walking to school that day
with Jesus hand in hand
feeling sorrow for my schoolmates
hoping I could make them understand

That with Jesus all is possible
in Him I am special and unique
and I still love you all
whether you call me a freak or geek

How can I ever again feel less
when Jesus lives in me
I'll hold my head high and give you a smile
and maybe you will want what you see

Then each stone that you cast at me
I'll ask God to forgive you
and pray that somewhere someday
God's spirit in you will shine through

What is amazing about this piece, and I wonder if you even realized it, is that when you closed the door to your room, you were not by yourself.  Beautiful piece, this, thank you...

Lovely poem. I felt like we were in the same school, because I was teased as a kid too. I had to wear a patch on one eye. This is a beutiful poem of the testimony of His love and care.  Ellie

I think I was in that same classroom too! It's not ok to be different according to children's rules, hope that is changing. Good poem, that many can relate too.

Dear Rose, The true spirit of Christian fellowship and life in general, written beautifully in poem. Thank you for this one.
