Listening to every heart

In poetic form, rhyming or free verse,
when did you know bad went to worse?
When did you learn to give it all up?
When did you look at a half-filled cup?

Here's the challenge:

When did you first know God came into your life?  If you remember that wonderful moment, and care to share it with us, we would enjoy reading it either in poetry or prose...

It can be an attachment to this, or go ahead and post it under your own name.  I am looking forward to everyone who wants to respond to this, my first challenge, here in Spiritual Journeys!

Have fun...shed a few tears, light a few candles, show us the way...

Sunshine,
What is a mini-story called? Where I just tell a story about the first time.......,
Would that be acceptable?     Marcy
PS: You may use anything you choose from me, as long as it is glorifying God. mm

Marcy, a short story would prose, and that's more than acceptable in here also!  So if you can write in story form and that's easier than poem form, then have at it.

I think I will do one in prose (short story) form also.

Thanks for the challenge Sunshine!!

I have not found this forum before.  I don't know if it moves as fast as number 7.  I have no time to write a poem, but I really want to respond to this challenge.
~ ~ ~
I was raised by born-again Christian parents, thank God.  When I was seven years old, I made the conscious decision to accept Christ as my personal Saviour, to forgive my sins, and become my Heavenly Father.  When I was fourteen, I began to worry that I might not have prayed correctly at seven, and I prayed again, the same thing I had always known.  I knew immediately, that I had been saved all ready, and there had been no necessity to ask again.  Complete peace.
~ ~ ~
I am forty-eight now, and have never had a doubt since.  I know that I am born-again, and I know that God has forgiven my sins, and continues to do so, as they occur.  I know that Heaven holds a radiant future for me - to live in forever, when I get there.  When Christ comes, and calls us Home, all the heartaches and anguishes of this world will be as nothing, compared with the joy that Heaven holds.  God has planned unspeakable wonders for His beloved children.

I was strapping teen,
Who never was too mean-
But sin had taken hold
To temptations, out I had sold.

I long believed in Jesus Christ,
From a child sang "Jesus Loves Me,"
And long through His Word He pleaded
"I can set you free!"

But being young and foolish
And scared to death of Commitment,
I put off until my middle teens
Accepting His Contentment.

But I remember that Sunday
My Lord and my faith I embraced,
Rising from Baptismal Waters
My sins being all erased.

What a pure and Holy feeling
Finally at One with my LORD,
I knew then what I wanted-
With others to share His Word.

It didn't immediately happen
I had so much growing to do,
But when your committed to serving the LORD
He'll make a way for you.
Remembering My Sacred Moments

Now it is many years later
And I minister to a small flock,
And teach and pray, encouraging others
That with the Lord they should walk.

Oh let me ever remember
And honor the covenant made,
To live my live in service
Of the LORD who came to save!

Thank you David, for sharing your story... we all have known the moment...some of us just haven't realized it yet...

Rosemary, I am glad you found the forum too. I had the very thoughts as you and found the same answers as you. Must confess, years later, when I hit my knees, doubting, that save sweet Savior was still there waiting for me. You are my baby sister, as I am 53 years young and Welcome Again!!  Marcy

David, Really enjoyed your testimony. Always curious when God calls a Minister to serve, their background. Your poem reflects the highlights of your ministry and serving God.
A beautiful testimony it was.Blessings, Marcy
