What do my Habits say of me,
Am I still bound, or been set free?
Free to be the one whom God chooses,
Or tied to things which He refuses?

Are my Habits helping me,
Or weakness and dependency--
Because I lack the courage true
To do the things I need to do?

All Habits are not to be denied,
We could not, even if we tried.
Some are Good, and not defective,
Our need is to be more selective!

Let them serve us, not as crutches,
Which make us prey to the devil's clutches--
But such as serve the causes of Good,
Helping us to be all that we should.

These are Good Habits, we should ne'er depart,
Proceeding from Good and Honest hearts.
Still thinking, thoughtful-chosen ways
Which will be to our Maker's Praise.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

"GOD GIVES- but man must open his hand." (German Proverb)

Dear David; It sounds like Jesus and you are doing some serious interior spring cleaning.
I really can relate to this soul searching and inspiring poem. It's an ongoing theme for me and never ending too. Great job and much food for thought. Ellie

David - Boy, do I need to hear what you are saying with this.  It's incredible how I can come into this forum and find so many answers.  This is a beautifully written message....again David.   Bonnie

You tread softly yet decisively with this poem on a common problem we all have in one way or another.

David,
Habits, good or bad?? Running a copy of this one to share with my son. I've got a few little habits I could toss myself. Thanks for this reminder, written with such truth. As always, beautifully written. marcy

Another great writing, David.  Thank you for the reminder we make our habits count for service to our Lord rather than self.
