When I feel tempted to say,
Why is the world treating me this way?
Help me to remember Thy Word:
"Is the Servant above his Lord?"

When in my own self-righteousness,
A haughty spirit I possess
Your guiding words, may You then grant
"If you'd be great-become a servant."

When I go to thinking, how good I am,
And ranking myself with the best of men
May Your Truth to me, ring like a bell,
"E'en at your best,still unprofitable!"

When I go to thinking about what I deserve,
Not focusing on the One I serve
Bring Your Words back to my memory
"To be Mine, deny self and follow Me!"

For in truth, it's plain to see,
Dear Lord, You deserve much more than me!
But for your Grace, I'm naught at all,
Lord keep me humbele, to hear Your Call!

Lord keep me from my Human Pride,
That I might stay right by Thy Side
For nothing's worth what I have gained,
If by vain pursuit, my Lord I've shamed!

Help me to find True Humility,
That "Thy will be done" as seen in Thee
And then with me, after Life's brief while,
May You share with me Eternity's Bright Smile!

"GOD GIVES- but man must open his hand." (German Proverb)

David; This is an exquisite poem of a soul that is in perfect accord with His will. For you do not pray as the Pharisee, but as the truly humble man who say "have mercy Lord for I am a sinner". "Blessed are the meek"!
You spirual wisdom and true humility is a poem unto itself. No wonder it is such a joy to have you as my friend! Love, Ellie

Dear Brother,
You've written a beautiful prayer of humility and submission. If we let the Word direct our steps, we will have no place for pride and self-righteous attitudes.  Thank you for sharing this sincere entreaty. May GOD continue to richly bless you. Dennis :^)

David, This one hit home. "Dear Lord, You deserve much more than me!
But for your Grace, I'm naught at all,"

Sometimes it takes going through a trial to bring us to true humility, in serving Him and in seeking His way through our trial.
Bless you, my friend, timely message to me.

The HUGE truth of how small we really are comes across in this great writing.  We must constantly strive to serve, and ask for mercy rather than what we deserve.  Thank you very much, David.
