                 Mother's Love

She sees me struggle to sit up,
Sees me struggle to crawl.
She watches as I take my first step
And can't help but wonder where I'll go.

One step after another
With mothers guiding hands,
I learned to walk, then run.
Soon I'll go out to play.

All this time she watches her child,
Watches me grow and grow.
But always she remembers
To let in the light when I get scared.

She sees me grow older,
Sees me grow wiser.
She watches as I learn to love
And wonders if she's doing right.

Day by day, year by year,
With mothers guiding hands,
I learned to read, then right,
Soon I'll do more on my own.

All this time she watches her child,
Watches as I become a lady.
But still she remembers
To let in the light when i get scared.

She sees my struggles with God,
Sees my struggles with life.
She watches as I do more on my own
And can't help but wonder where I'll go.

Now that I am almost grown
I see how much she really cared,
And wish that I could unsay so many things
And tell her how much she means to me.

She's been through so much,
Always showed so much strength.
She's taught me how to love,
Even through the hate.

Now, as I prepare to leave the nest,
I will take all that she has taught me,
Spread my wings and fly away,
I can't help but wonder where I'll go!

Being a mother this was very touching! We at one time or another question if we've done right.  I'm sure this will touch her heart very much so. It is always a blessing when our children come back and tell us how much they appreciate us. Being a mother is certainly not easy.

As for cross posting, you're right you shouldn't do that. Please in the future, ask the moderator of the forum your work is in to move it to the forum of your choice.
You can have the poem in one forum and as it falls to the back pages, have one of the moderators move it for you. That way we are not using up so much bandwidth. With the volume of posts on this site that happens very quickly. When we use bandwidth, we use up all our space. We wouldn't want that to happen to quickly.

Dear pharon, I especially liked your poem, for you have shown Mother's (such as I) from
the child's ( soon to be adult )viewpoint.
Really made me stop and think. Many thanks.
Your poem is lovely.  marcy

I really like this poem.  I hope that my children will grow up to appreciate me as much as you appreciate your mother.  Angela
