Searching at the airport
Hari Krishna I became
Shaved my head to the bone
It never grew back the same

Journeyed to the mountains
Found Dali Lama there
He smiled as he asked me
What happened to all your hair?

Buddha beckoned me next
Thinking his wisdom is what I need
So I wore the orange robes
And increased my nightly feed

The Baptists wanted to drown me
The Catholics wanted my soul
The Reformists took away my dance
Said it would make me whole

I tried to be an Amish chick
Without the electricity
when I wanted to surf the net
They said it was an impossibility!

So where do I find that inner peace
Man has sought throughout all time
Perhaps I’ll just look right here
In my God-given verse and rhyme

ROFL!!! Thank you for posting this one..methinks people take religion so seriously that they forget the inner spirituality.  I really liked the reference to trying to surf the net sans electricity..too cute!

And yeah, I must agree with your ending verse.  Such is the outpouring of my soul...pen on paper.

It has been said that the answers that we seek lie within ourselves. . . that includes the talents and gifts that we have been given. . .

Excellent deVine...

Sharon we needed some humor in here! Thanks!

That inner peace can only be found in one place. Ya know people sometimes forget we were made in the image of God. God gave us emotions just like He has. Anger, hurt, laughter and most important, a sense of humor. I know He has one, heck he has to with all us humans.

Our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are, but we are responsible for who we become.

This is great! A light touch that we all need and a chuckle too, with wisdom thrown in for good measure. Sounds like a good recipe to me! Great job! "The Kingdom of God is within you". So, why look any further.
thanks, Ellie

Thank you all for you kind comments. I didn't want to offend anyone, just to bring a touch of my God-given humor to you. You know my favorite drawing of Jesus is the one where he is surrounded by children and he's laughing!

There are many religions in the world, so I also want to say I hope no one who belongs to the religions I wrote about is offended. I believe we are all brothers and sisters...because we don't share the same belief makes no difference to me! I love you all...

PoetdeVine~
Very comedically/spiritually done.
A pretty neat map to where we all need
to be on the road to our search.

Enjoyed very much.

Poet Devine,
This reminds me of the song, LOOKING FOR LOVE IN ALL THE WRONG PLACES--The lengths to which some will go(in the wrong direction) which is available to them all the time if they will just follow the Instruction Manual(God's Word--also known as the OWNER's MANUAL).  Seek and ye shall find-But look in the right places too.  Good one,  David

I personally think the search for a religion is really a search for love and acceptance. In the 70's when the cults were prevalent, people were drawn to them because they were looking for the love they felt they weren't getting elsewhere. I know God loved them, but they weren't ready to see it. If someone chooses a religion other than mine, finds peace, treats everyone with love and kindness...that's not a bad thing....thanks for your reply!!
