The Famine

Behold a famine cometh
When the end of days is near
But not for food and water
For the Word of God you hear

He said I'll send a famine
It's not of the bread you eat
Hunger for the Bread of Life
So your soul can be complete

For I will send a famine
Not the water from the well
But for the Living Waters
That can steer your soul from Hell

This is the apostacy
Famine of falling away
From hearing the Word of God
And living it every day

Amos 8:11

Rebecca; This is so wonderful! "hearing the Word of God, and living it every day". You are so right, it is the worst kind of hunger.
This is beautifully written, Beck, and inspiring for us all. Thank you!  Ellie

Amen Rebecca - Sounds like an unperfectly balanced diet to me. This is a simply beautifully written taste of the hunger we feel when He's left out.  Bonnie

That is the worst famine of all, I'd say. Powerful writing, Rebecca. Very good!

Very insightful!  Makes me think of the communist countries where church buildings have been closed and worship forbidden as well as bibles or any form of them.  We are blessed to have the freedom we do, and so few really take advantage of it. Thank you.

Rebbecca,
This is a wonderful adaptation of the scripture--You trully hit your mark on this one-clear-pointed-and well aimed at our hearts.  Thank you for this wonderful and important message!

Amen WhtDove,
Thank you for bringing this to our attention, in such a beautiful way. His word
will stand, this we can be sure.

"He said I'll send a famine
It's not of the bread you eat
Hunger for the Bread of Life
So your soul can be complete"

My prayer, include all my family, friends and self, desiring more, being more, for Him
and His Glory.
Bless you Rebecca,  Marcy

such a famine i pray never to see. for what life have we in abundance of wealth, if our souls are malnurished to the point of fainting. i shudder at the thought. a powerful message here, and great wording and flow! great job!

Thank you to each of you! I have to say this is the famine of the end times. I've stretched it a bit, but it's taken from Amos 8:11....a famine shall come, not a famine of bread and water, but a famine for hearing the word of God.

It's gonna happen, and it is already.

I love how you took the scripture and put it into a beautiful, expressive poem!  Well done.  God bless you!
