Here's a special story - (a completely true one)
Posted at Michael's request -  for this very special week...

WHAT'S A MIRACLE?

"What's a miracle, Mommy?"  Cassandra came bouncing out of her pre-school class brandishing her typically jubilant attitude.  Most children would be at least somewhat tired out at the end of such a long day.  Cassandra, however, is just getting started.  She's always sufficiently wound up with enough enthusiasm to overtake the "Energizer Bunny". Her incessant questions seldom take her mother by surprise, as Mom has come to expect the unexpected from her whimsical little daughter.  This question was a big one, however.  It would take some thought to explain miracles in a way that would make sense to a four-year old.

While it seemed that Cassandra's inquisitive little mind was already on to the next intriguing issue, Mom knew that she'd be expecting an answer to her "miracle" question momentarily.  The short drive home, listening to the highlights of Cassandra's day, gave Mom a few moments to plan her strategic response.

"My teacher says that God is everywhere and that He can make miracles," said Cassandra, nearly on cue as they arrived at home.  Mom smiled, feeling more prepared for this second inquiry.

"She's right, Sweetie," said Mom.  "God is everywhere.  When God makes a miracle, something very special happens - something that people can't possibly do."

"You mean - like bringing Babe back from Heaven?" asked Cassandra.  Babe, their beloved family Doberman, had just recently passed on after a very long and happy dog's life.

It was certainly obvious from Cassandra's surprising comprehension, that the meaning of "miracles" had been discussed in class that day.  The Heritage Christian Pre-school had been a "God-send."  Cassandra was a very smart little girl, and seemed to be coming home with wonderful little Epiphanies about God, Jesus, and Christianity daily.  This day was obviously no exception.

Mom responded quickly this time, "Yes, that's exactly what a miracle is.  It's like God bringing Jesus back from Heaven.  After Jesus died, God brought him back to help save us all."  She was very pleased with her analogy, feeling secure that her daughter would now have a clear grasp of the meaning of a "miracle".

Cassandra's face was suddenly overcome with a fretful and stressed look for which her mother was not prepared.  Her beautiful little eyes widened in disbelief; and she appeared to be holding back some very large little-girl tears.  "What is it, Cassandra? What's wrong?" asked Mom.

Cassandra looked up at her mother incredulously and asked in a small panic-stricken voice…."Jesus DIED?"

Dear Nan; Thank you for posting this timely and moving story. "out of the mouths of babes". Little children can teach us so much, if we but listen to God speaking through their innocent hearts, we will hear His voice. Ellie

This is a wonderful story.  Very glad you posted it for us to enjoy.

Oh, Nan~
What a precious story.
How fragile are our children's little hearts.
Awwwwww, I can just hear it.
I would guess that 'mom' pulled over and gave Cassandra a great big hug.

The most lovely words flow so swiftly from the mouths of little ones.
This is a profound question, so sweetly sung.
I enjoyed reading this.
