I heard this on the news today and it really struck me hard. I couldn't stop thinking about it, so I wrote it down.  Please read part 2 from the baby's point of view.

Senseless Tragedy

Lord, help me with my anger
For I just don't understand
Children having babies now
They don't want nor have they planned

That's not what really gets me
It's the killing that they do
"Throwing" away their babies
Precious life that came from you

A tragically sad story
I heard on the news today
Of a how a precious baby
In a bag was thrown away

Found inside a paper sack
In a closed lid garbage can
Laid to rest and suffocate
Life over 'fore it began

I want no explanation
Or excuse for how you played
You're the one who messed things up
Your child's the one who paid

How could you so ruthlessly
Just toss your child away?
End a precious little life?
I await the day you'll pay!

YOUR LIFE IS NOT A COINCIDENCE. IT'S A REFLECTION OF YOU!

I agree 100% there is no excuse for such tragedy. so many people want to have children but can't. They would be happy to raise those children as their own.

Very tragic, I agree, Rebecca. I can't even watch the news anymore, it is too depressing. Very powerful poem.

Too many unwanted children, and not enough love to go around.  It is a shame...it's because the children being raised today aren't raised properly - life to them, has no value.  It is disposable like you've shared here.  Children having children - that viscious cycle, that continues one generation on top of another... Someday soon, God will say enough is enough.

Jeffrey that weighed on my mind as I thought, there are so many out there who would have taken this baby. Given it a warm and loving home. There's more than the option of throwing them away. Thank you!

Denise I agree with you. I rarely watch it anymore because it's depressing. I happened to catch this morning and didn't get all the details, but man this one just hit me where the heart is.

Pepper it does the same to me!

ROFL @ you Toe! Leave it to you to make me laugh!  Comin from you Toe that means a lot. Thanks buddy! HUGS

Someday soon God will say enough. It is a real shame that things have gone to such waste. Thank you!

When babies have babies... before they've had a chance to know how to make wise decisions... Tragedies such as this so sadly happen.... Nice job here, Whtdove..

You are rightly outraged at this 'Becca.... just think how God feels watching all this nonsense.

Be patient....it won't go on forever.

Rebecca, you poem really touches and saddens one's heart, it is very powerful Angel.
I can't bare to even think about how there are people out there that do this to their children. It sickens me.

Great poem Angel.

There is a tribe of indians in Peru called the Chichipu, and with every birth, the whole community celebrates, no matter whether the parents are together or not, no matter how young the mother. The civilized have a lot to learn from the backward tribes of the earth
We should celebrate life

Nan you're right. But it's a break down of morals and values today. It's so very sad.

I have to say I caught the news again, and from what I understand the baby is a girl and she was found, and has survived. They don't know who the parents or the baby's family is. But she has survived! Thank God!

Robert I can only imagine the things God sees that we never hear of. It will be over soon. And those who have done such horistic(sp) things will surely answer for them.

DA I have a hard time understanding someone who could do such a thing. There is always adoption or other avenues to consider. Thanks Hon HUGS!

Liz I agree! I think we could take a step back and learn from others. Life is a thing to be celebrated for sure!

Dovey, you have a heart as big as the world to write this. This is why I pray there is a Heaven because there must be somewhere people are forced to pay for their deeds. Excellent work, m'deer.

'Tis a horror and a tragedy.  We had the same instance occur here about a year and a half ago.  They let the teenage mother off ofr whatever reasons.  Truly left me ill inside.

Ruth I agree. So many have said these younger kids see everything as a throw away if it don't fit their style. I tend to agree.
What happened to those days of respect? Not talking back to parents, minding the rules?
Aggh!

Walt, it surprised me when I saw it. Just a little blip on the news. The next time around they said a dog found her, had knocked over the garbage can and pulled her out. Tell me that God didn't have something to do with that eh?  Too many things these days Walt, so much tragedy and it's become so mundane that we just don't pay attention to it anymore.

Thank you Sir Balladeer, I take a bow! There is a heaven rest assured. There is nothing in God's eyes that remains a mystery. Though it may remain that way to us. There is a judgement day coming, and you can take that to the bank!

Devine, I agree with you! There are no words to defend this, or excuse it in my book. It's plain cruelty, utter lack of respect for life.

Michael it's so hard to imagine. I can't imagine letting them off, but who's to say.
I remember when I was younger, when of course you just didn't hear of these things, that someone had wrapped there baby in a plastic garbage bag and suffocated it and threw it in the dumpster. I don't think I will ever forget that. It left me with such shock and anger. I guess it all still does.

Ditto the sentiments my friend.

I heard myself on the news today of a newborn found floating dead in a canal. Why? I just don't know.

Amen to all-
You've made the call
How senseless can some be,
To toss aside a precious life
An innocent l'il baby?

Thank you for showing your concern in this most touch poem,  David
