Tommy's Lie THERE WAS A BOY, AGED TEN OR TWELVE RAISED IN A HOME WHERE JESUS DWELLED WHILE PLAYING DOWN THE STREET ONE DAY HE TOLD A LIE AND SAID," IT'S TRUE" THE NEIGHBOR CALLED, YOU-KNOW-WHO. DAD MET HIM AT THE DOOR THAT DAY, SON, DID YOU TELL THIS TALE? TOMMY TURNED HIS HEAD IN SHAME, DAD POINTED TO HIS ROOM AND SAID, "PICK UP THE BELT TOM, I'LL BE UP SOON" DAD FOLLOWED TOMMY TO HIS ROOM UPON THE BED HE SAT, HE BEGAN TO TELL THE STORY OF JESUS AND THE CROSS ABOUT THE PAIN INFLECTED AND OF THE LIFE HE LOST. HE TOLD HIM OF THE LOVE HE HAS AS HE HUNG THERE ON THE CROSS, HE GAVE HIS LIFE TO SET MEN FREE FROM SIN AND ALL THINGS BAD. DAD TOLD HIM OF THE STRIPS HE TOOK UPON HIS BACK THAT DAY. TOMMY'S EYES NOW FILLED WITH TEARS, AS DAD REMOVED HIS SHIRT "THIS TIME SON, YOU TAKE THE BELT, YOUR PAIN I'LL TAKE FOR YOU, YOU HIT ME TILL I SAY NO MORE, MY LOVE I'LL PROVE TO YOU; |

I WANTED TO ADD, DIDN'T KNOW HOW, THAT I HEARD A YOUNG MINISTER TELL THIS TRUE STORY ON A CHRISTIAN TV STATION. HE WAS 35 YRS OLD, A VIRGIN, WAITING ON THE LORD TO SEND HIM HIS LIFE'S MATE. HE WAS SUCH A BLESSING TO ME. AS I SHARED THIS STORY WITH MY HUSBAND I HAVE HOPES HE WILL ONE DAY USE THIS ILLUSTRATION WITH OUR OWN GRANDCHILDREN. SORRY FOR THE EXTRA POST. Marcy, This is a fantastic story poem. I'm sure you did justice in the telling of it. What an awesome and impresseive lesson to be impressed upon an impressionable mind--one that will stay with him throughout his life!
