I'm Sorry
~~~
When  the  light  is  gently  fading
and  you've  passed  out  all  your  prayers
The  only  thought  remaining
guides  your  way
~
When  you've  pulled  out  all  the  stitches
and  its  time  to  get  new  britches
The  world  that  you've  created
saves  the  day
~
When  you  climb  the  winding  stairs
and  the  railing  disappears
A  hand  upon  your  shoulder
comes  to  lay
~
When  the  steps  come  to  an  end
tell  your  story  to  a  friend
Feel  your  worries  and  your  troubles
fade  away
~
When  you  pass  on  through  the gate
look  around  to  see  your  fate
Think  of  the  others  still  behind
then  kneel  and  pray
~~~

Rex, I'm so glad you popped in here! I hope you do it more often

I just love this piece...It really touched me. I love how you've done this, just all of it, the way you rhymed it and formatted it!

WOW! Applaud!

Rex~
You are wonderful.

'When  you  climb  the  winding  stairs
and  the  railing  disappears
A  hand  upon  your  shoulder
comes  to  lay'

So inspiring.

Rex; thank you for this lovely poem. We do need to "kneel and pray" for each other. Very inspiring! Ellie

I see an analogy of the end of life in this poem, I don't know if that is what you intended but I see it. It is very beautiful, a gentle assention to heaven and the passing of this life. Very nice read.

Rex,
  This is a beautifully inspiring piece here-but I don't get the connection of the the poem with the title (I must be a little dense)--could you explain it for me?
   Thank you, David

WhtDove ... your reply is so inspiring ... how could I refuse ... thankyou

Marge ... you too are wonderful ... you seem to be able to put your pen up to any task ... successfully

Denise ... thankyou ... you always read and reply with beauty ... you are a sweetheart

ellie LeJeune ... you've certainly got that right ... coming from an Irish catholic background ... I think there's room to give and receive a lot of prayer

Septsong ...yes you are right about the poem it is about life at its' metamorphose to Gods'country

ROSE MARY ... thankyou for reading and taking the time to tell me you enjoyed it

deleeme ... I'm Sorry is what I would say
to the gate keeper and god at the first opportunity ... I'm sorry for all that I am ... and all that I wanted to be but couldn't find the time. Our paths are paved with good intentions
