From quite a distance I stood and watched,
I saw His blood fall and stain,
I saw the crown of ugly thorns,
On His head as He hung there in pain.

My heart cried out in sorrow,
As Joseph wrapped Him in a sheet,
And placed Him carefully in the tomb,
Then walked slowly away in defeat.

On the morning after the Sabbath,
While taking spices to the tomb,
I wondered how I could move the big rock,
And enter into that room.

But when I arrived the entrance was open,
The boulder was nowhere around,
Inside there was a young man in white,
But Jesus was not there to be found.

Though startled by this angel,
He said I must listen to his word,
"Jesus has risen He's come back to life,"
I was amazed by what I'd just heard.

I was frightened and badly shaken,
And trembling too much to speak,
But when I saw Jesus walking toward me,
My legs were no longer weak.

I went quickly to the disciples,
To tell them that Jesus has risen and lives,
But they didn't believe till they saw Him,
As He said, "Preach the good news I give."

Dear Bonnie,
BRAVO! BRAVO! on your terrific submission & contribution to the challenge. Another lovely account of eyewitnesses to the resurrection of Jesus.  Though you did not expressly identify the person for whom you so eloquently spoke, Matthew 28: 1-9 give the names of two women,(both Marys) who did experience what you shared with us. Again Marks account mentions them(16:1-15) and it appears Mary Magdalene, is the specific one
that you chose, and probably from that same passage.
You met the challenge well--another great poem attesting to the Risen Christ!
      Thank you,   David
P.S. I gave you a Gold star for this one!

Bonnie you've done a terrific job from the point of view of Mary Magdalene. What a sight that would have been. First thinking he was the gardner and then realizing who He was. Just terrific!
