At the age of 20,
I was an incurable
romantic
and still am
with Wisdom added.

I fell madly in love
with Vince.
A fairy tale come
true.
Not long after the
big wedding,
oh, 24 hours or so,
reality reared it's
lovely self.
It would be awhile
for me to see
and know
the Grace of acceptance.

First I needed
to accept me,
as human, not perfect,
and love myself,
and then to see
the imperfect beauty
in my spouse.

Now I can truly
appreciate
all that he is.
Seeing and loving
with the eyes
and heart
of a loving God.

This man I love
is kind,
and very gentle.
A bit of a temper
that is quickly
overcome.
A wit among wits,
he makes me laugh.
Affectionate to a fault,
his many "I love yous'"
throughout the day
are precious to me.
He treats me with
cherished care.
He encourages my gifts
and reads every poem,
and he's a fabulous
cook besides.

Could it be
that this marriage
is better than most
because,
our Lord is the head?
and Grace fills our
lives?

He's my best friend
ever,
and always in my corner
no matter what!
Not exactly Prince
Charming,
but then I'm no
Cinderella!

But who needs perfect,
when we've been given,
God's love for one
another
instead!

Sounds like your fairy tale is a whole lot like mine, sure glad we were able to stick around from "Once upon a time" to "And they lived happiply ever "After", the after being the lessons we all have to learn. Really nice poem.

Ellie I just heard something about this on TV the other day. How kids are wanting to know about marriage. How it lasts...so very important to keep God at the head of the relationship and all other things.
Ours didn't start that way, and troubles abounded. When we straightened up and put God first, He's done some amazing things in our lives.

Thank Ellie! (((((((HUGS)))))))

Ellie,
This is a lovely Tribute to a wonderful, but human husband, of a mutual needed because you two were not complete in yourselves, and in a Wonderful God who loves us inspite of our imperfections and teaches us to do the same for others. You said a Mouthful here Sister, all Good!!!   David
