Mary
To be there at Golgatha, and watch.
Oh Mary how did you stand the pain?
Wanting to be with your son and comfort Him,
seeing your gentle son, beaten, blood stained.
Sitting in front of the cross, seeing His agony,
knowing it was coming didn't lessen the grief.
Innocent Lamb of God, taunted and tortured,
shamed, scurged and hung between two thiefs.
You could feel the sorrow that He felt,
when the pain and anguish was on His face.
He was hated by the people that He loved,
He who was saving the whole human race.
Sweet John, thinking of His Saviour's mother,
oh, he did not want you to go there.
But your boy would not die with strangers,
there was no stopping you from being near.
Being blessed by God certainly wasn't easy.
You knew He was going to glory when He died,
now His suffering is over and your's has begun,
finally, one last time you held Him, and cried.

"The grace of the Lord be with you all."
- Rev. 22:16
"Oh that I had wings like a dove! For then I would fly away and be at rest."
- Psalm 55:6

Erie, you've done a great job!  Not so often do we sit and look at Mary from a mothers point of view. It reminds me of the song...
"Mary Did You Know."  I really like how you did this. How you wrote from how she must have been feeling, His pain on earth ended and her's just beginning.  Very, very good!

Dear Erie; As a mother, Marys agony is beyond indurance. But stay by His side, she did. You've written it well and Marys' sorrow comes alive for us, to teach us the meaning of love that never falters. Ellie
