In Paths of Righteousness
(For His Name's Sake)

Traversing paths of righteousness a man will have his peace.
On roads of greater purity his soul will find release.
Within such pleasant boundaries the tongues of clamor cease
which ever send their noisome speech to tangle and defile,
to waylay heedless travelers, deceive them and beguile,
to make their way unfruitful and to tarnish every mile.
So if his tread cannot be stayed, at least sin would impede
the progress of the godly and to dwarf his righteous seed
and into winding pathways holy sauntering to lead.
But in the ways of righteousness much more our God is praised.
How less in ransacked temples, holy places burned and razed!
Let jealousy awaken for his name where men have gazed.
Amid the paths of righteousness, a man shall valor find,
to love his God supremely and renew his darkened mind,
and unto mercy's covenant his yielding head to bind.
Attaining Heaven's entryway for some will not suffice.
The Spirit's flames must evanesce the hoar of wintry ice
that fire of sanctity might blaze as Abel's sacrifice.
Refusing to present to God a yearling sick or lame,
with motive more than to escape hell's destiny of shame,
some yet desire above all else the honor of his name.

Stephen,
This is magnificent, fullbodied, rich in thought and style; worthy of a poet's faithful expression of his belief and conviction. It read to me as a glorious modern psalm-beautiful in all ways.
As this honors God, I would likewise honor you, in your God-given talent & insight. Thank You,   David< !signature-->

This is amazingly done. Every word in rapture with the truth. Magnificent is rightly said. Through it all, still to keep the honor of his name. Bravo! God bless you and keep you steadfast.
Sincerely,
Rwood
