Lord You've given me
so many blessings,
and I am profoundly
grateful.
This house is always
filled to overflowing,
with laughter and sharing.
Every room full of life
and your blessings.

Suddenly, I'm alone.
A very rare occasion,
and feeling sad.
I don't know why.
Usually, I savor
these quiet times,
like pearls, rare
and beautiful.

You give me choices
every day.
So I choose to be
happy instead.
Immerse myself in
gratitude
and count the blessings
you bestow on me.
I am grateful for this
quiet time.
that feels almost alien.
Maybe that's it!
It feels like the day
after Christmas.
Or when the party is
over.

SO, quietly I sit here
and I am still,
and I know that you
are God.
I hear Your reassuring
Voice,
and feel Your unending
Love.

Dear Ellie, I love this poem, everything about it, especially the part where "I choose to be happy instead" and I'm going to remember those words for a long, long time.  Thanks for sharing.....Bonnie

what a blessing!  it's amazing to see how God provides for us and how we sometimes feel unsure of how to accept it.  you've captured it in such a simple way.

Dearest Ellie, you could never be alone..This is beautiful strength and serenity at it's best. Your words speak of a heart so big that there will always be room for two!
Sincerely,

Dear Ellie, what a wonderfully serene & peaceful piece you have here-which also suggests to me that no matter how close we are living to the Lord, in every experience of life we are meant to be growing, learning, and finding the good that is there.  Thank you for this, yet another lovely installment,   David

Ellie your words are soothing to the soul! We can't be happy all the time, but those quiet moments for us to reflect on Him, for He is always with us! Great

Ellie this is one of your best, it is so honest and sincere. Reminds me of the song not sure of the title but goes "You'll never walk alone, you have a Saviour that walks beside you everyday".

This is very peaceful and serene.
It reminded me of how very lucky I am and how much I actually appreciate the quiet times to think, cherish and reflect.
