A Long Way Home

Off in the distance a shadow emerges,
A faint echo can be heard.
Eyes seeking to see the expression of each others faces.

The old man
Seeks to see reunion?
The young man
Seeks to see acceptance?
What will they embrace once in each others arms?

The heartbreak of the separation has left it's mark,
Each with their own set.
The Father
More determined to cleave,
The Son
More determined to stay.

Anticipation grows with intensity,
Followed by uncertainty?
They rush to see the outcome of their journey,
Anxiety fills the air.

Thoughts are running wild as their approaching nears,
A party??
Ahhhhhh YES, For one so dear!
Will I need another place to stay?
For all know I have strayed!!

Then their eyes meet for what seems an eternity,
And their gaze confirms it all.
Nothing has changed within the realm of love,
Their hearts are once again to be endeared.

This joy is outrageous and does not make sense??
And they are overwhelmed with each others presence.
For one it is an answer to prayer!
For the other it is a homecoming!

They dance amongst  the lilies because they feel the victory,
And they know that nothing can ever separate this love they ALWAYS shared.
And they both celebrate the battle that has been won,
Because more than anything else
It has been worth the trial.

A lesson has been learned and hope is renewed,
Their  bond is now stronger.
The  commitment is made anew,
Never to let go again for it was not worth what was lost,
But they are both glad that they paid the cost!

Dear Illusion; I felt like I was there. The beauty of forgiveness shines through and love the gift. Thank you, Ellie

The prodical son returning.  A great poem, the anticipation and questions before the heartwarming reunion.  Well written.

Yes as Sandgrain observed-you've no doubt taken the Prodigal Son for your inspiration here, but you've brought to it new life with such splashes of emotions, vivid colors of anticipation and uncertainties, until the unbroken glowing Love fills the scene in a glorious way.  Wow! What a wonderful picture & poem you have well crafted here.  Thank you,   David< !signature-->

Good Morning to you all!!  I have been slowly finding my way around this forum and started doing some exploring of others poetry.  WOW......really awesome talent here!!  I can't wait to start giving some of my own encouragement to all of you wonderful writers.

Just let me say to all of you that have responded to my posting, I am priviledged to have your comments.  I find them refreshing and they give me a sense of how you view a piece of poetry. Since I am sort of new around here, it gives me an idea of how one might want to respond to a posting.

Thank you all so much for taking the time to submit your remarks, it is appreciated!  Until next time.......pen in hand!
