I share with you my inner thoughts
In things which I've had dealings,
For these are things I've lived with
And had to sort out my feelings.

Though I've been married for so long
And a Christian couple are we,
We tried for years, children to have
But for us, this was not to be.

At first it seemd so ironic
That in this we should be denied,
For what better home could children have
Than with parents, whom in Christ resides?

Our efforts were all so futile
Though prayerful and were well meant,
We had Asked, and Sought and Knocked
Yet no children to us were sent.

What should we make of these matters
Should anger and despair fill our soul?
Tho' these may be Natural reactions
Instead we sought, "Lord, make us whole!"

And here are some things we've discovered
God's thoughts and our thoughts were not one,
What we thought needed to complete us
The Lord for us had already begun.

For starters, He'd giv'n us each other
And a Faith that would carry us through,
Not walking by "sight" but the Spirit
And thus opening new avenues.

We've found in our years together
Though Childless we have remained,
Our sense of Self and Worth and Joy
Through "Thy will be done," to us came.

And this we know from experience
And this you will find to be true,
When God says "No" and closes a door
Many others, He'll open for you.

God bless your saddened hearts, aching
He Knows of your heart-felt sorrows,
But trust in His Love, accepting His will
And He'll open up Brighter Tomorrows!

Oh David, What a beautifully written testament to God's love....My Mom used to say that when one door closes, another opens, I guess that at times I just couldn't see that. Your poem just lifted my heart....Thanks, Bonnie

Dear deleeme. Such wisdom and guidance is written here. You are the shepherd of many young and old sheep thru this. As Christ spoke to the little children, though fleshly childless himself, no one could have brought them more love. I feel that in this way he has chosen few people to do the same. You are precious in his sight. God bless
Sincerely,
Rwood

David,
you are such a gift...to take a painful lesson of your personal life and show the comfort you found in your faith...to find a positive where most would focus on the negative...
you set a example of true strength in faith.
this was inspiriing to say the least.
take care, jm

Dear David, What a powerful message written in a beautiful, tender poem. This is a perfect piece to help someone re-look at the blessings already in their life provided from God, our Lord and Master.
"But trust in His Love, accepting His will
And He'll open up Brighter Tomorrows!"
I especially liked this line. Bless you David, God has chosen you to be a vessel and you do, indeed, allow Him to use you in a special way. Bless you mightly today. Marcy

David this is beautiful! It sure says something for faith two can have after this! God always does open a door after one is closed. We sure may not know the reasons why, but get blessings in other matters!
Thank you David for sharing this, God Bless You!

Ps, I sent this out!

David, Thank you for your compassion. I will share this one with my friend. I know you understand her pain. Although God did not close this door on me (having children), He has closed other ones. But He always opens new ones for me. I thank Him everyday for His many blessings in my life. I guess we are all blessed with our own challenges. He knows exactly what we need in our lives so that we can become more like Him.
Thank you again, my friend, Howie

It's so heartwarming to read together you prayed and accepted the answer is no. The 4 yrs. we were childless, was always in the forefront when harried days came with the 5 blessings we were given, and I understood how valuable that waiting period was.  Thank you for sharing and showing the light for others to stand firm in obedience, David.

David this poem just oooooozed with character that comes only from knowing the Lord. It was written so beautifully, and just made you feel so assured that God has control no matter what the circumstances! It is a wonderful testimony you have given to us to reflect upon.  Thank you so much for sharing this very personal part of your life with us for His Glory!
