I still have so much to see Lord,
Of all I am meant to know,
I keep trying to learn it all quickly,
But the process just seems so slow.
I'm still afraid to completely let go,
Although in my heart, I know I must,
The thing I have the most trouble with,
Is the oft broken, hard to find, trust.
In my heart, I do know You're there Lord,
It's my head - that gets in my way,
Remembering painful things from the past,
That often cloud the bright sunny day.
The fear of feeling that awful ache,
When again I've been knocked off my feet,
Do I dare to try to reach out once more,
And try to find what was once so sweet.
Maybe I should just accept where I am,
And stay where they can't inflict pain,
But perhaps You want me to try it once more,
Staying here, I have nothing to gain.
So, I'll take this scary step forward,
I'll put all of my faith in Your hands,
And I'll pray that I won't hurt anymore,
But if I do, I'll at least understand.
And I will remember that You will be there,
And You will give me the strength to endure,
Whatever's ahead on this chosen path,
Of the future that seems so unsure.
I still have so much to learn Lord,
And though the process is slow,
It will be worth the time it's taken me,
To at last believe what I know.

What a beautiful, thoughtful prayer, pointing to Him, where our help comes from!
Thanks for sharing your beautiful verse with us. I touched my heart. Dennis :^)

Dearest Bonnie: This poem is so beautifully written! I remember so well exactly where you're at. I felt like I was hanging by one finger to that cliff, and if I let go I would plummet endlessly, and when I finally did, He had me and we flew. Trust was my big issue too. The answer was dealing with the lack of trust. Look at it this way--what have you got to loose? All my love, Ellie

Sweetest Bonnie, Your poem just opens your heart and spills out all your uncertainties.
Your poem also is your answer, as you have acknowledged so beautifully.(pasted here)

"And I will remember that You will be there,
And You will give me the strength to endure,"

We all struggle with flesh, just keep remembering, Jesus forgives; keep that prayer in your heart even at the times you may not feel Him, for Bonnie, HE IS THERE, and you will continue to grow in understanding and wisdom.
God Bless
Marcy

Oh, how I can remember the fear and the longing in letting go.  After trying our own way, or believing we are responsible for all, for a long long time, it's very scarey to hand it all over and take on the ONE responsibility we have...living to His honor and glory in thankfulness.  What freedom!  Why I ever thought I could handle things better than Him is beyond me!  God bless and thanks for sharing

I feel like crying reading this because it is so much like me. But one good thing in common is that we know he is there. Thank goodness we know this..And we can keep growing as we hang on to that thought. God bless you Bonnie!
Sincerely,
Rwood

Ya know, one of the hardest things there is to do is to totally let go and trust God. Much easier said than done! But He NEVER lets us down, never!  You've done an excellent job! I love this, I love it!

Dear Bonnie,
In Luke 21:19  Our Lord said, "By your patience possess your souls."
Your poem hits upon that sore spot that many of us have on our spiritual journey, and that is our impatience and need for trusting God more for guidance, growth and understanding. As you are open to these things surely they will come your way--God bless you and thank you for this poem, David
