My Hope
by Cassie Gielow

It's days like these I wonder
why this has to be;
Why I always seem to struggle,
why God chose this for me.

It seems so long ago now,
that the load was easy to bear,
that my biggest worry was passing the test,
or what to do with my hair.

Now those days are gone for me,
I have bigger tasks ahead;
It seems that childhood is gone,
that I'm a fifteen year old adult instead.

The days pass by like birds
flying south to where its warm,
and all the while I sit and wonder
how I'll weather out this storm.

I try to talk to others,
but no one seems to care or understand,
and I cling to what's around me
so I don't sink beneath the sand.

It seems as though things are looking up,
that I have overcome;
but something else comes to hit me,
and I take another blow.

I crave the simple, perfect life
that others seem to have;
their parents are together,
they can trust their dad.

I know that everyone is dealt
a problem now and then,
and others have it just as tough,
it might even be harder for them.

I still crave the days of long ago,
when I was that sweet, innocent "little girl",
who still saw good in everyone,
who found hope in this scary world.

Although I make it through each day,
there are times I start to cry from fear...
what if I fail, what if I'm wrong,
what if my cry for help nobody hears?

I worry of what others think,
that I have let them down,
I worry that my dad won't make it through,
that his life he won't turn around.

I look around for the answers
to the problems that I face,
but my search is never-ending,
for they are not in this place.

I take refuge in knowing
that this is in your plan.
That there is a reason,
get through it I can.

Somehow I will conquer this,
and find myself again.
This little girl will find her hope
and somehow she will win.

Each of us is only a speck
in this great big world,
we all have times when we feel weak, lose faith;
when we lose our "little girl."

I know that you are there for me,
when I need you, when I'm lost,
when a storm blows through my life,
when my ship gets tossed.

I know that all I have to do
is get on my knees and pray,
you'll forgive me, you will listen
anytime of day.

You washed away our sins
and gave us everlasting life,
you have touched my heart forever,
and I'll never be the same.

Nothing has ever meant so much to me,
ever touched my soul,
as much as you have and do,
you are my light, my hope.

Help me to see the brightness,
the better times to come,
the day I go to be with you,
the day you take me home.

Someday I will get through this,
I will look back and be sure,
that as long as I have my hope, my light in the dark,
I will make it through the storm.

Welcome to Passions! You express yourself so well here. Your heartfelt prayer reminds me of myself at your age, having to many burdens to bear. Thank God, I had faith in him as I see hear by your poem that you do also. Keep holding onto that faith it will see you through, and if there is anything I can do please email me. If nothing else I am a good listener. Keep writing it is good therapy for the soul. Hugs, Septsong

This is sad but yet full of hope. It's good to know that you trust the Lord at times like these. Prayer is the most you can do, for you, for your Dad. All we can do is live one day at a time. For if we live in yesterday or tomorrow, we don't take hold of what we have today!  You know we do have hard times, and sometimes it seems like it just pours. Keep your faith, things will smooth over after a while. You couldn't be on a better road than with the Lord!

God bless you and please check your email for a special welcome!

Dear Cassie; You have written a beautiful poem that comes from a beautiful person, I can tell.I want to welcome you here to the forum and I promise you that if you stay here and keep putting you lovely poems here, you will feel all of us loving you to pieces.
Here you will find encouragement, and lots of love. It may not feel like it right now, but you are in a perfect place in your life. For through your beautiful faith, God is holding you in His arms and He will see you through. All these problems will make you a stonger and more compassionate person. I can tell that you are a very deep and spiritual person and the little girl is still there. I'm the mom of 6 kids, so if you need to talk my e-mail is ellie2744@hotmail.com. I'd love to hear from you.  Love, Ellie

Cassie, Hope is the anchor of the soul, and you have expressed it so well. Welcome to Spiritual Journeys, You'll be in good company with your fellow pilgrims. Good first post, look forward to more.Dennis :^)

Poetry is the expression of thoughts which awake the higher and nobler emotions, or their opposites, with words arranged to some accepted convention.........or maybe not! Dennis :^)

Welcome, Cassie.  I have a granddaughter named Cassie who's also treading very troubled waters, so I can really relate to your pain.  Nothing we go through is without a higher purpose, although I couldn't imagine one myself at times, I can see it's a fact.  I'll pray for your continued faith strengthing.  Please stay with us, we're all family on this forum.  God Bless.

Dear Cassie,  I am impressed by you wonderful and extensive poem. You've obviously given a lot of thought about the things you are going through.  But just let me share this--God will not put more on us than we can bear.  That being so, and you being put under a big and perpetual load--that tells me, that you are quite a person.
Tho' there are many things which you can not now, and do not know in your present suffering, if you'll truly keep the Faith,
like Job, you be blessed abundantly! Just one More thing, write down and keep handy the words of Romans 8:14-18.  It will help give you a good perspective of things, God bless you NewComer--we are here for You!

Hello Cassie. I truly pray that your burdeons are lifted as you write. I greatly relate to your lovely poem because, not long ago, I too was in your shoes. God lifted me up. And now I have to be there for my son, who is 14-15 in July. He has troubles too. But if I hadn't gone through what I went through, I wouldn't begin to know how to help my son. Sometimes, things that are close to your heart test even the strongest of faith. Keep letting the words flow. God receives every one of them! I look forward to hearing from you again.
Sincerely,
Rwood

Cassie~
This is a very well-written poem and displays very deep thoughts.  You know, I'm 30, and I often "lose" that little girl, too.  It's easy to do, and I like to attribute it to our "earthly weakness".  You are right on at keeping Christ at the center of your life, and through Him, ALL THINGS we will overcome.  Again I will say it...There is a reason for everything, the battles we are faced with, the times when we simply shine, the people we cross paths with...the list goes on.  Just sometimes we are not shown the reasons behind these happenings in a timely fashion, or maybe not at all.  But rest assured, there is reason, a plan.

Again, I enjoyed this poem very much!
Welcome to Passions!

Hi Cassie,
I wish it were possible to give you a big "hug" after reading your heart felt poem. You are at the right place. I am new to this group and it did not take me long to find out these people love the Lord and lift each other up.  Each before me, in their post to you, have given you a hug and words of encourgement.
Cassie, so few teenagers are where you are at in their walk with the Lord, it really blesses my soul to hear you speak of your salvation. Honey, God does not put things on us, but when life's demands seem so heavy, this will enrich your faith, as you are special in the eyes of the Lord. Take the advice of the elders above and email them and talk to someone who understands, including me.
Love you,
Alle'

hi Cassie, welcome to your second home (actually it's your third, heaven=1st, where you sleep=2nd, and here=3rd.)

I'm only 20, (one of the youngest here i think) so remember so clearly what is was like at your age - going through the process of finding out who you are, becoming a young adult, making big decisions.  And for something like this to come ontop of that can not only throw you out with that extra load, but it can make life miserable.

It really blesses me to read the faith and determination in your poem (written so well!) even though you are struggling - hold onto this and keep your eyes on Jesus, prayer like the others said is the only way to get yourself, and your father, through this rough time. And He will use this for His glory at a later time, I'm sure of it.

So take heart my dear, although there may be weeping during the night, joy comes in the morning... you are in my prayers, and keep those poems flowing girl, we want to read them!!!

This is a great poem, and one I can relate to. I am "a 16 year old adult", as you say. But there is hope, as you say. Keep up the good work!
