Heart Surgery

The heaviness intensified
as pain of the past did, inside
All hopes and dreams had died
There was no one in whom to confide.

Bowing to God on bended knee
He was begged to hear the plea
Of feeling so betrayed
Sad, alone and afraid.

Lord, are you there?
Please answer my prayer.
Only the broken heartbeat was heard....
Til the bible was opened to His word.

Christ says we must forgive
And be born again to eternally live.
God forgives and forgets confessed sin.
We're heirs, as children of Him.

The words cut deep in the heart
Where all deceit gets its start
Through layers of past discontent,
Pride, regrets and resentment.

Fear, envy and idolitry,
Prejudice, waste and jealousy..
All had clogged the arteries
Blocking out love and peace.

When we've died to self pride,
Pain and heaviness subside,
And the spirit of love is aflame
To bring honor and glory to His name.

We're all just one heartbeat from
Our eternal destination.
Opening our hearts to surgery,
We're cleansed and renewed by God's mercy.

~sighs....wow this was great! Clever title, inspiring words we all should live by. All of us I think need from time to time heart surgery w/ God. This left me thinking a lot, and challening my own life. I thank you.

Thank God for those life saving/soul saving operations of His love and grace pulling us back from the brink of disaster. Sandgrain- You lovely poem said it very well.
  We appreciate you,   David

Dear Sandgrain The wisdom here is profound. It is so true that untill we open our hearts completely to Jesus' healing and confront our own truth, we are not totally His. Thank you, also, for all your lovely replies to my poems. I always love hearing from you.ellie

Thank you Aimster, Janet Marie and David for your kind remarks .  Ellie, I first had OPEN Heart Surgery as a title, and should have kept it.  Isn't hindsight wonderful?  Thank you for reading and responding so kindly.
Wht. Dove, so glad you're relieved!!   We've had a lot of open heart surgery, but I need it daily, if not more often.  Thanks Sweety.

Thank you, dsnyder, Alle'cram and mirjam for reading and encouraging with your kind comments.  Actually, mirjam, I believe there's real physical health problems caused by long term resentments, etc., but this analogy, we can all relate to.  Thanks again, to all.

my heart overwhelms me that you could touch so closely the feelings I myself have had. The cleansing and the peace of having everything lifted and pieced back together the right way. Just like heart surgery. Beautiful!

Thank you for the little poem!

What an incredible poem
with an even more incredible message.
The words I'm finding in here are so
freeing, and wise...
and just what I needed to hear
this morning at 5am!
I will carry this with me today.
