WEAK
By Amy M. Kennedy

I feel as weak as a bird with no wings
I feel as weak as a singer who can't sing
Trying as hard as I can against the struggle of life
Against the neverending pain, loss, and strife
Working everyday closer to the heavens above
So that I too may fly like the white peaceful dove
But what does "He" want, what does he seek from me as a human being
What is it that I dont understand, that I am not seeing
To live thine own life, is to live a life that is true
But what is my purpose, what am I to do?
Feeling broken and tattered, I do the only thing I can
Turn my faith to him, as I strech out my hand
I close my eyes, and say a prayer of inner peace
Praying that he will give me the power, the glory, the strengh
But even as I do this on a day to day basis, I can't help but think
I am falling to the pits of hell...faster and harder I fall as I sink
I shout to him as loud as I know how
Praying he will hear me, help me somehow
But alone is the feeling I feel most often, alone and sad
Then like a ray of sunlight, the clouds do part, and my heart is glad
For he has heard me, and is calling to me
Saying its okay dear child I am here, just trust in me
And I do trust with all that I have and all that I am
Closing my eyes, praying, reaching out my hand.

Nice protrayel of honest feelings. Reminds me of the song "I am weak but thou art strong".

Dear Amy; A wonderful poem of the glory of His loving redemption and healing. I have been where you are and have traveled the road, as we all have, and cannot begin to praise and thank The Lord Jesus enough for all He has done and has yet to do. Thank you, Amy.    love, ellie

We often are looking for some great thing or vocation God has purposed for us, but in reality I'm sure He wants just our willing surrender to serve Him, as you've so written so well.

Amy,
I enjoyed your poem prayer. I thing the singer had it wrong when she sang,"God is watching us, from a distance." I think you have it right; God is near, and truly responsive to our cry, and gracious to our needs.  Thank you for sharing this with us,            David

Amy this is wonderful! I know I've felt like this before. Felt like when I talked to God, it didn't go farther than the ceiling.

He is always there. Sometimes we just aren't looking in the right directin to see it. We need to try and live according to His will instead of our own. He has a way of steering us in the right direction, and I guess that feeling of alone would be a way of telling us we need to turn direction.  Not just you, for I'm just typing this as it's coming to me.  I think this relates more to me than you, haha, you made me think, and gave me an idea I've never thought of before.

God bless you and thank you!

PS...David, that singer was Bette Midler.

Amy WELCOME!  Thanks for sharing such honest feelings - and in such a beautiful prayer/poem.  I guess i'm repeating myself but the others are right, when God feels so far away that every word we speak to him seems to go unheard, we need to stand on the word of God and believe that he is with us, and dwells within us, all the time.  Praise God eh for calling us, and pulling us back up when we are falling? God bless you Amy, i'm looking forward to reading more of your talented work!
