I came to You, so tired and scared,
I had loosened the grip on my rope,
I had turned my back so long ago...
Given up my faith, and my hope.
And now when I was empty,
When I needed Your gentle care -
I was afraid to come to you in need,
So afraid that you wouldn't be there.
My soul was almost nothing,
All but shattered, was my heart
But how could I dare to come to You now,
Just because I was falling apart?
Did I come to You when things were good?
Did I ever joyfully call Your sweet name?
Did I have any right to call out to You now
When I had these demons to tame?
Humbly, I cast my eyes upward,
And I whispered my selfish prayer
Instantly there was a warmth inside,
Your presence was - everywhere.
I felt surrounded by angels,
Their wings holding up this weak soul
Your love for me was awesome,
In one moment You again made me whole.
You filled me with Your perfect light,
You made me see, with eyes so clear
That You will always be by my side,
And my prayers You will always hear.
Thank You for helping this lost little lamb,
For filling my soul from above,
For giving me back the me I had lost,
And for showing so clearly, Your love.

This is so beautiful, such a honest protrayel of the prodigal son story. Isn't it wonderful that his arms are always open wide?!!

You know this just made me start thinking. So many think because they have fallen that they can't come to God this way. That is just the reason we should come to him.

This also brings to mind Psalms 107

This was an awesome piece you've shared with us. Thank YOU!

WhtDove, I guess that when the bottom is above us and we need the help, we will finally see who is, and has always been there.  Thanks for your encouragement.

~BSC~

I am crying....but tears of happiness. This was breathtaking! Isn't it funny that we do praise the Lord's name and want his help in our time of need, but when things are going well for us, we forget our Lord. This poem said it all! Thank you for sharing.

Amy
P.S. I hope that things continue to go well for you. Trust in his love, and in yours!

That is a beautiful poem.  So personal and powerful in emotion.  It reminds me of the psalmist who wrote his personal experiences with the LORD and said "Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven,  whose sin is covered.  Blessed is the man to whom the LORD does not impute iniquity and in whose spirit is no deceit." Psalm 32?  His grace is unfathomable!

A great writing with a powerful reminder that the Lord opens His arms to the repentant heart.  Keep these coming, please.

What a blessing for me to read these words tonight.  Delivered so beautifully by you, and whishpered gently by Him to all of us...if we just listen with an open heart.  I really liked this one a bunch!
