My chidren I have
  created you,
that you and I may
  be one.
Long before you were
  conceived,
in your mothers womb,
  I knew you.
I gave you each gifts,
  that you alone,
in your own unique
    way,
could touch and heal,
  and be as one.
But, too many of you,
  my children,
are lost in darkness.
Too few have come
  back to me.
If you only could
  see
the Joy in my
  heart,
when just one if my
  children,
says "I love you".
I, too, need this
  comfort.
Are you not made
in my image?
Then you must know
that I too
have a heart that
  breaks,
and eyes that weep.
I too need the comfort
  of my beloved
  little ones.
Come to me, all of you
  my children.
I will give you rest
  for your souls.
For my yoke is easy,
and my burden light.
Most of all, I need
  the comfort
of your love for me,
when so many of my
  little ones
forget that I am their
  loving Father.

Ellie, this is a such a gentle reminder that God longs to have fellowship with the ones he created, and his heart weeps when we forget him. You certainly have a heart that is open toward him.

Ellie, this is POWERFUL stuff-powerfully sad-powerfully tender--powerfully wonderful in sentiment and prospect.  What a wonderful messenger of Divine Love you are in all of this! Thank you for sharing His message & your gifts,   David

Ellie, this is indeed a great message!  So often we think only of our needs(of which many are actually wishes) without realizing the closeness He longs for from us.

Beautiful love offering to God. You are so right. So often we fail to tell him that we love Him too.

He yearns for a relationship, yet we often deny Him His due, He won't force it upon us,
but waits patiently. Thanks for this gentle reminder of His Love, the love we don't deserve! Well Done! Dennis :^)

Ellie this is so outstanding. I feel its message so clearly. I worry so much about my kids, I forget he has worries and needs our love too. Your words are so touching. Thanks so much.
Sincerely,
Rwood

Ellie:

I know this is not CA but I read your poem and felt I had to comment.  I think, generally, your poem rightly portrays a loving God.  The only thing, in my opinion (please don't take offense), that seems to throw this one off for me is the idea that God is in need of anything.  Does He want His children to return to Him?  Yes.  Does He love His children?  Absolutely.  Does He need them to come to Him?  Absolutely not.  I'm assuming your poem is about the Christian God.  The Christian message is concerned with man's need for God not of God's need for man and in God satisfying man's need through the life, death and resurrection of Christ.  If God needed man could His mercy be properly called grace [i.e. unmerited favor]?

Other than that I had no problems with the sentiments.  Please don't take offense.  My comments are intended to be nothing more than constructive.

Well i have to agree - this is definitely your best!  They just keep getting better don't they?  When i think of God, i never imagine Him weeping or having the emotions we do, this was a real eye-opener for me and i want to thank you so much for sharing this beautiful poem! Keep them coming girl!
