My chidren I have < !signature-->created you, that you and I may be one. Long before you were conceived, in your mothers womb, I knew you. I gave you each gifts, that you alone, in your own unique way, could touch and heal, and be as one. But, too many of you, my children, are lost in darkness. Too few have come back to me. If you only could see the Joy in my heart, when just one if my children, says "I love you". I, too, need this comfort. Are you not made in my image? Then you must know that I too have a heart that breaks, and eyes that weep. I too need the comfort of my beloved little ones. Come to me, all of you my children. I will give you rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light. Ellie: I know this is not CA but I read your poem and felt I had to comment. I think, generally, your poem rightly portrays a loving God. The only thing, in my opinion (please don't take offense), that seems to throw this one off for me is the idea that God is in need of anything. Does He want His children to return to Him? Yes. Does He love His children? Absolutely. Does He need them to come to Him? Absolutely not. I'm assuming your poem is about the Christian God. The Christian message is concerned with man's need for God not of God's need for man and in God satisfying man's need through the life, death and resurrection of Christ. If God needed man could His mercy be properly called grace [i.e. unmerited favor]? Other than that I had no problems with the sentiments. Please don't take offense. My comments are intended to be nothing more than constructive. Jim |
