When Samuel heard his name in the night,
He answered without hesitation,
For he ran to Eli saying, "Here am I",
Twas sent back to bed in quiet resignation.

Samuel was called a second time,
He arose and to Eli said,
"Here am I; for thou didst call me",
Eli said NO!, now get back to bed.

Now Samuel was young and the Lord he knew not,
Neither had the Lords' Word been revealed,
But he'd been Lent to the Lord by his mother dear,
To this end his sweet spirit did yield.

Now the Lord called to Samuel, now thrice,
He arose, and went to Eli once more,
Eli percieved, the Lord called the child,
New instructions then he did outpour.

"Go lie down;and it shall be, if He calls to thee",
(Don't come to me), but these words say,
Speak, Lord for thy servant heareth,
(Do this and you'll be blessed this day).

The Lord came again and called as before,
Samuels name was once again heard,
Samuel spoke as Eli had instructed,
He faithfully spoke every word.

"Speak, Lord for thy servant heareth,"
Should be words WE are ready to voice,
For if to His Call we freely surrender,
We'll truely have reason to Rejoice!

This is a wonderful Poem, Dennis! You have written, bringing this Old Testament account to life and to mind with purpose.  I'm glad you come and have posted in our forum. You are most welcome here!  When shall we see your next?

Thanks for your kind words, but I think you     should know,
Tho the words from this poem from my pen did    flow,
But to claim its' authorship, I must rescind,
You see GOD wrote this poem, I just held the    pen!

Thanks to you all.   Dennis :^)< !signature-->

Amen to all the great comments.  It's refreshing, (as is everything in the bible), but I mean putting it into poetry form.
