There's a Demolition Derby going on
In the Superbowl arena of Life,
And it's getting bigger each year
As the World shows it's greed and strife.

Many deem themselves as Super-Stars
In their ability to slam all around,
And pride themselves in their prowess
To put all their neighbors down!

In this sadomascohistic world
Some find them a sinster delight,
In knocking down those earnest souls
Who are striving to do what's right.

If a restraining order, I could get
I'd shut down this derby of sin,
This world would be much better off
And good deeds could flourish again!

We need not a Demolition Derby
But a perpetual Festival of Love,
And then we will have the Show of Shows
And Humbleness blessed, by God above!

It is so easy to get caught up in a world that is cruel, a word that talks about our neighbors and a world that trys to destroy that very essance that God has built, I found comfort in your work, you are very talented, thanks for sharing

Dear David; I'm once again amazed the way you manage to rhyme, use words so fluently and have the whole poem flow so smoothly, and fill the poem, from top to bottom, with a profound message.
There is a line in the rest of the serenity prayer that helps me, Jesus says: "take this world as it is, and not as you would have it". But, wouldn't it be marvelous if it could be as you describe?

You come up with the darndest things. Demolition Derby and Superbowl of life, so original.  We need to be on the lookout for those things, we do get caught up in the ways of the world. BUT, if all things were perfect, we would have no trials and tribulations. Of course we could all do without those things, hehe, but we'd get no better, nothing to strive for without them.

Now, remind me of this next time I go through one would ya?  haha

David you always come up with such original perspectives!!!  I really liked this - i also often think what it would be like if all the evil in the world simply didn't exist, but i think Whtdove's right, then there'd be trials, and we weren't learn or mature, and we certainly wouldn't appreciate what we would have.  But man, just imagine what the world would be like if everyone was a sincere Christian!  Another great poem, as usual.
