THREE POINTS OF UNITY

There are three points to unity,
God, the lead, over man and wife.
But some don't see the trinity
In viewing the love of their life.
For man and woman stand the same
While God reigns from heaven above.
And only by each seeking His name,
Will they grow closer in their love.

Whereby each step towards the Lord
Brings two hearts closer together.
Thereby meet God in shared accord,
That said union last forever.
For can a man so love his wife
In the same manner God loves him,
If his eyes are but on his own life
And sin has left his vision dim?

Can a woman honor her husband,
Fitting, as God would have her do,
If following another hand
That serves to discount her virtue?
Or should either overcome God
Within one another's view;
What let downs must await their trod
For who but God could hold love true?

Yes, two bests one for if one falls,
They may be lifted by the other.
But who recognizes God's calls,
Eyes upon self or one another?
No, see love as a triangle,
Man and woman set at the base.
Steps toward God closing the angle
Till each sees full each other's face.

Dear Michael: My marriage is living proof of everthing that your beautiful poem professes. It took a lot of years until we surrendered our marriage to the Lord. Wow! We are so in awe at the healing and blessings that He has given us ever since. We had to mourn the lost years, only to discover that time is meaningless to God. We feel that all those years have been restored to us, and more. We are so very grateful. Thank you Michael for these wonderful truths.

Is it any wonder the bible says not to be unequally yoked?  You, Michael, have a keen understanding of a Godly love in your heart and share it so beautifully.  Thank you.

This story was actually told to me from one of me old pastors.  I thought it was a wonderful analogy of what "marriage" or "love" is supposed to entail.  So long as both parties are keeping there eyes on God and walking toward Him, they will continue to grow closer, and we all know too well what happens when the eyes are shifted elsewhere.  Thank you all for the kind replies.

Michael,

This poem is beautiful.  I am myself 28 years old and married only 4 years.  I want to prove what is that "perfect and acceptable" will of God for my marriage.  Your poem really spoke to me the need to love my wife as Christ loved his church (or more specifically, me.)  It is so easy for me to get "spiritual" or whatever, yet in such a way that I am aloof from the needs of my wife.  Not to spiritual in the end analysis.  I loved the pyramid picture and the angle narrowing.  Anyway the poetry and wording itself was very eloquent and tasteful.  I hope to share some of my poetry with you maybe soon.

Stephen Jones.
