A BACKSLIDER'S PRAYER

I know I'm facing shadows,
God, please help me turn around.
I can feel myself slipping,
Can't set my feet on the ground.
I just can't understand it,
Yesterday all was so clear.
Never noticed I turned away
Till I caught up with fear.

Was I proud?  Was I arrogant?
Don't answer that, I know.
For everything I held as my own
I now have to let go.
Was I selfish and unthoughtful?
Don't answer, I have seen.
By dear love lost the dire cost
Of actions unforeseen.

Temper me Lord, quell my passions,
Teach me to think before I speak.
Catch me Lord, for I have fallen,
Everything looks so bleak.
Return me to the light if by
Granting humility.
Please restore the hearts I have harmed
To full serenity.

Teach me to love as you love me,
In weakness grant me your strength.
Teach patience and perseverance,
That love will come at length.
Dear God I humble myself to you,
My endeavors please forgive.
And, Lord, allow me to forgive myself,
That for you I may live.

Dear Michael; I know you realize that you are not alone. I've been where you are, and I know that it's safe to say, so has everyone else here, in one way or another. It's a tough place to be. You have my prayers this day. You also know, that this is exactly where you will do the most growing and find yourself closer to God than you ever dreamed possible. The toughest part is forgiving yourself. The way I got this part, was to imagine myself forgiving a dear friend for the same thing. That worked.
Beautifully compossed poem, Michael. I can tell you are a lovely, sensitive, person, and very human, like the rest of us.

Michael the poem is excellent. I know though that it's brought from frustration, hurt, and confusion.  We all fall Michael. The hardest thing to do sometimes is to stay in His word when we're feeling like this. Let me tell you though, that will help. God can get you through anything.

Your sins Michael when asked, are erased, for that is the whole purpose He came and died and arose. They are removed as far as the east is from the west, that is how far I remove your transgressions from you!
Michael you know I'm here for you. If you wish to talk or just take time with me in His WORD, we can do that. Maybe try and lift your spirits some.  Many hugs and prayers for you my friend!

My heart is saddened because you're so sad. If I can help, let me know!

One way you can save your riches,
And the other will save your soul.

Michael...
this is truly excellent and deeply moving...
darlin' you break my heart...try not to be so hard on your self...your poetry in the last weeks speak to your pain and anguish..and to the fact that you have learned much from your mistakes. That is a very important part of healing and self forgiveness...this beautiful prayer speaks volumes of how much you have grown in this time...
take care, stay strong...janet marie

for Michael...

Some things cannot be explained by verses that rhyme,
They are not measured by the commitment of time.
Some emotions run too deep to be described by words,
Forgiveness and understanding-
remain the most beautiful words ever heard.

What a humble, sincere prayer in rhyme!  Once my son kept confessing to me over and over until I cried, "Why can't you believe I've forgiven you?"  That's how it made me feel, but his problem was his inability to forgive himself.  Just remember where it says, grace will abound much more where there is sin.  God bless.
