{ This is my whimsical version of "Be still and know that I am God"}

Whirly bird, Whirly bird, where
        are you going?
No where says he,just round and
        around.
But have you no plans, no
        destination?
No sense of direction, no purpose
        at all?
No I'm going round and round,
cause that's what Whirly birds
        do.
Who said it old bird?
Who told you that lie?
Is it written in stone?
Or did you learn it somewhere?
Was it a command from on high?
Did anyone ever tell you that
       maybe,
you could change directions?
What me, old Whirly, change
       direction?
Why, I wouldn't know where to
       begin.
Begin with a thought.
Or maybe a question, a question
       would do it.
Like where am I going?
Do I want go somewhere?
Or, what if I stop and say to
       myself,
Whirly birds really can take a rest.
They can sit for a while and just
       whirl not.
What me whirl not?
How could you dare think it?
But, now that you thunk it,
I wont debunk it.
I'll give it a try - oh my,
this whirly bird is stopped.
What a wonderful feeling.
You've taught me that Whirlys
don't need all that whirling!
That Whirly birds really can
      just be.
  Be who they are!

Wonderful story ellie.  Me thinks we all could stand to slow down a little...even just stop - and look at ourselves, what we do and how we live.  Sure is a lot of unecessary whirling going on, isn't there.

Ellie,
You have a marvelous ability to choose perfect imagery for your messages and craft awesome poems well worth the read.  On the surface this conversation may sound silly--but oh the underlying truths for so many whirlybird humans caught up in whirlybird-(just passing the time, but not trying to go anywhere) mentality.  This is another Gem to add to your Poetry Treasure Chest. Thanks so much for sharing it with us, and the special preview ,too.
  God Bless you,   David

Enjoyed this very much. I love whirly birds, although I wouldn't want to be one, like you say, so much effort for no destination.

Great message to one of my favorite saying eh? Be still and know that I am God!  We all need to quit whirling around in life and stop and take notice! Excellent Ellie!
