So many of my day have been spent
Sifting sand through gold rush pans
Coming up with nothing but fool's gold
Or common stones

So many times my thoughts
Were of weariness
And of my meager existence

Many times I was
Tempted to quit
Give up
Go home

Instead
I kept on
Hanging
By A
Strong
Golden
Cord
Of
Love
I
Knew
God
Had
For
Me

I am so glad
He helped
Me To Hang
On
For now
He's
Helping
Me
To
Pick
Up
the
Gold and the Diamonds
He keeps sending my way.

Septsong,
This poem is beautiful all around, in message, in form, in ironic impact. I'll give it an A+ for a job well done!  David

Septsong, this is wonderful! It shows how He faithfully keeps picking us up! How he chisles away at us to expose our "diamond."
We are the clay and He the potter! You've done a great job!

Great analogy in amazing form.  The Karate Kid always comes to mind, as must-do things  seem so empty for so long, then we reap a harvest seeing the reasons for all those days.

This is a really good example of great free-form poetry! Keep up the good work!

The Bible talks of a man who sifted through life collecting little gems along his way. I think the sifting is part of God's plan for us. But also... when that man found a "Pearl of Great" value he sold all he had just to have it, and we should'nt ever forget that..! Looks like you found that "Pearl."
