Isn't funny how we look at ourselves
And see so many different faces,
For the same person over the years
As we experience life, go through it's phases.

And even within the course of a day
My visage so flexible seems,
It changes with feelings, alertness and strength
It brightens with my most treasured dreams.

Sometimes, I hardly recognize myself
Looking so tired and paled,
Or when anger rears it's ugly head
It becomes my head and I'm appalled!

But for whatever on the outside is seen
I must look more deeply within,
For the "inward man" is what counts--
I must find my steadfastness in him.

For tho' while the outward man perish
And we see his decline every day,
The inward man daily can be renewed
O'ercomming change, which passes away.

So my many faces won't perplex me
If it's simply a matter of time,
'Cause deeply within, I'm living for HIM--
Soon a glorious change will be mine!

And then I shall be like my Lord
Thus my temporal changes erased,
In His glory to shine, which will last beyond time
And be permanently etched on my face.

This was so inspirational, I loved it. I feel I should say more, but it just won't come out the way I want right now. Thanks for sharing this one, it's a winner in my book.

David; thaks for sending this one along. I really enjoyed this poem. As you can tell by my prose, the inner journey with Jesus, is the only reality. That is where He dwells, that is where He heals us, and there we encounter His infinite Love. How then can we not be profoundly changed! Beautiful read once again, David. By the way, I think you underestimate yourself. Your Christlike qualities shine through and all the other stuff is just being human. All you need is more acceptance of your inner spiritual beauty!

David that last verse really sent this one home! We war all the time between the spirit and the flesh, and we need to let the spirit control instead.  As the earthly one grows older the inner one is rejuvinated, I hope!
Great David! You have such a way with words.

David, this is a remarkable poem, because of the way it shows the dichotomy between one's outward, usually rather nice, image and the turmoil that exists in one's heart until he or she finds equilibrium in Christ'd daily presence and His promises for eternity.
Than you for reminding me.

In my younger rat-race days, I used to observe the calm, relaxed nature of some elderly people, wondering if they'd ever expeienced the rat-race, or if I'd ever experience their serenity.  Now I truley believe it's more to do with a faith that's strengthened over the years.  You're well on your way.  Thanks for another great writing.

Justbleu is bringing forth treasured pleasures with all of her digging in the archives...just wanted to say, David, that I'm glad to know it's not my mirror, but my inner self that needs the help...
