I dreamt I was in Heaven
and while walking on a cloud
I stopped to pick a rose
to lend colour to my shroud

There were many roses there
along the path I walked
but one stood out and beckoned me
and by this rose I stopped

I looked upon this rose
so beautiful and rare
I wondered should I pick it
as I lingered there

The petals were so soft and sweet
the stem so straight and strong
the leaves were the brightest green
and it seemed to sing this song

Please pick me for your very own
I know I am a little shy
but if you leave me here alone
I shall wilt and die

It will hurt a little
when you free me from the rest
but most of all, I love you!
and it will be for the best

Yes, I said, I'll pick you
and take you to my throne
for you are the sweetest rose
that I have ever known

I'll guard your secrets with my love
and caress you tenderly
I'm so glad this beautiful rose
was waiting just for me

Then the breeze blew
and the Golden cloud was gone
I stared and wondered why
my rose should fade with the dawn

Just be glad I'm not your child!  *evil grin*

Im glad your still here with us sharing your wisdom!!
take care, janet marie

..."when you walked into the room...I saw their faces---
did you know--you made it seem like time was standing still...
and I felt---fascination...though I only knew you then--just casually...
then you slowly turned and smiled in my direction...
and my heart gave me away"....

Is this what you were working on that you didn't like?  Well, you're wrong! It's fabulous! What a picture you've painted here, I was walking in that dream! Excellent Echo!

L.B...Thank you, and I will try

Sandgrain...Thorns?  In heaven?  I don't think so, I think Jesus had enough thorns to deal with while on earth!  I am glad that you enjoyed this!

Majestic....and I heard you loud and clear!  Thank you!

'becca...No, this isnt the poem I was talking about, the one I was talking about is called The Trip in OP6, and I still don't like it LoL.  I am glad you liked this one though!

Echo,  I liked the powerful imagery in your poem, but the end left me a bit sad...
Please write another couplet to it, showing that when you fully awoke there was a beloved
and beautiful person right near you, so the rose wss not really gone.

Melanie,
You've written several poems about dreams, and this one is superb.  I guess we'll have to start calling you BEAUTIFUL DREAMER.
  God bless you,  David
