       I was a closed bud,
as we all  are  meant to be,
in our sweet budding
       time of life.
And, as Grace dictates, we
are meant to unfold.
Petal by petal, to grow
       into wholeness.
But,if the pain is too great,
and the love absent,
the bud remains a bud.
Who is to say of God's timing.
Does every bud flower,
at one moment in time?
Still, there is the natural
       order of things.
In this order, a child grows,
       and blossoms,
who is cherished and loved.
So, it is to be mourned,
the years lost of full
       flowering,
and gratitude, that it came
       at last.
One petal at a time.
Learning to trust Him enough,
to let Grace unfold her
       beauty.

I found a wonderful messege in this poem, I understand what you are saying but, it didn't flow that well for me.  Probably I have not the ear for poetry that i wish i did and I mean in no way to insult your poem but I was wondering if there was a typo either with stanzas or line breaks. If not please excuse me, i was just thinking maybe you could look it over again to make sure there wasn't any computer gliches or something.

Ellie, what wonderful thoughts! When it is time He shall work wonders in our life, make us bloom, he does that everyday! We're all working toward his Master plan!

did you know--you made it seem like time was standing still...
and I felt---fascination...though I only knew you then--just casually...
then you slowly turned and smiled in my direction...
and my heart gave me away"....

I so agree with you as I've noticed people who've missed a part of their childhood revert to recapture it later on.  It's like God wants them to have it no matter when plus theirs such beauty in growing at different paces.

This is very touching.  I have seen the truth in this so many times.  As a pediatrics nurse, I see children that are abused and unloved that bloom with loving care just as we bloom with God's loving care.
Wonderful.  God Bless, Anita

Dear ELLIE, I see strongly in your regret at being deprived as a child, and missing some of the wonderment which ought to be the birthrite of all children. And that is sad--but God's Love, caring, nurturing & grace can overcome the lackings of men- and bring out what may be late but not NEVER.  I'm glad you found fulfillment -even if it was delayed, and are able to love God more for it.  God Bless you,   David
