One beautiful day last summer
The sun shone bright that day
Filled with all the good things
You hope for in a day

Late in the afternoon
The dark clouds made their way
Into our sleepy Sandhills town
A storm dark and gray

A funnel cloud, twirling in the sky
Rain and wind and hail
I made it to the basement
And prayed this wasn’t real

The storm did pass
The family united
And I asked 4-year-old nephew dear
If he seen the twister up above
And was afraid like his Uncle here

He said no I wasn’t
And I inquisitively asked him why
He said, “Jesus was with me”
“No need to fear or cry”

I went to bed that night a wiser man
Because of a child so dear
And when it comes to storm again
I have no reason to fear!

This is dedicated to my nephew Sam. Who reminded me that God speaks to us even through children.

Hi, Geo; This so sweet. The first thing that came to my mind, was Jesus' words "unless you become as a little child...." Children have such an uncomplicated faith that is so beautiful and you brought that out so beautifully in your poem.
Thanks, Geo, for the b-day wishes. I'm having the best one ever!

This was beautiful, children are so innocent and they have so much faith. They can open our eyes to so many things with their childhood spirit.

Often I think we work so hard to teach our children, then find such spectacular lessons they teach us.  We do need to keep our faith child-like.  Thanks for the nice work.

Thanks everyone for the nice words about this poem. Amazing how the Lord speaks to us like Janet said "Out of the mouths of babes". When Sam spoke those words to me I felt the Lord touching my soul. My nephew Sam has been quite the inspiration for quite a few writings! Dont have any grand kids yet Janet, think Ill get married first!! HA (No one will put up with me yet!!) HA Thanks again, it is such a privilege to be here and share and read poetry with you all!!!

It's quite amazing when God reaches through those little ones to help us. I also like how you brought that out in your poem.
Children are simple in the their faith, and believe. Adults tend to muddle things up, complicate them, and we don't trust as easily as children do.

Great reminder Geo!

Which way is right for you,
Stop and softly ask yourself,
What Would Jesus Do?

It is amazing that sometimes it takes a child to show us Jesus is with us when we feel He isnt or don't notice!  I guess that's why they call it child like faith!

Just be glad I'm not your child! *evil grin*
