I recall the night so clearly,
The words that make ones heart sore,
Wife, I love you dearly,
But I love your best friend more.

My heart was in dispair,
I thought that I would die,
In his loving arms I crawled,
It was then that I could cry.

His comfort was beyond all measure,
I knew that him I could trust,
I know I am his treasure,
To him my heart I give, I must.

When you cleaned out the bank account,
And kicked me from my home,
He provided me with a place to live,
Even with a phone.

Although I didn't understand it all,
I trusted in his word,
The greatness of his love has no pall,
His treasures provided unheard.

Day by day he healed me,
Carried me when I could not walk,
Helped me to plainly see,
And even how to talk.

He guided me through the anger,
Taught me how to forgive,
Sweet Jesus that was born in the manger,
Taught me how to again, live.

You turned this tragedy to a Victory,
For you knew just what I needed,
The ex-husband in history,
My new Christian husband,
Has the old one by far exceeded.

Even when life is tough,
We need to understand,
We are diamonds in the rough,
Being molded by your hand.

Dovesongs,  This is a lovely poem of a faith through trial, discovery through discomfort, and a full recovery through the Redeemer.  Your poem says a lot about YOUR Spiritual Journey. Thank you for recounting it to us in this way!  I'll be looking for your next poem,   David

Dovesongs
this touched me deeply... you have expressed some of the many emotions one goes thru in this situation, and I know that it is one of the most painful times a person will ever experience...but you showed it can be gotten thru with inner strength and trust in faith.
Sharing your lessons will help others to learn and get thru it as well...a gift of poetry... and to answer your question to me earlier...yes...same wavelength...I have realized there are many kindered spirit in this lovely place(smile) take care, janet marie

Some things cannot be explained by verses that rhyme,
They are not measured by the commitment of time.
Some emotions run too deep to be described by words,
Forgiveness and understanding-
remain the most beautiful words ever heard.

Dovesong, this is deeply touching. I agree with David here and Janet. You are helping others by letting them know what you've been through. That faith can get you through, and trust in the Lord.  You've made it through a tough situation. You are strong in the Lord to be able to keep faith like during the times of suffering, when a lot would have given up!  Thanks for sharing this! God Bless you!

Thank you for recognizing what I was trying to say.  Without the Lord I honestly don't think I could have survived that painful period.  Thankfully we can lean on him and frankly, I don't know how people that don't believe can make it through such times.  Reading some of the very sad poetry in the other forums prompted this poem and I hope the message truly helps someone.  God truly replaced a little piece of pain in my heart with a gem each and everyday until I was healed.  I praise him for that.

dovesongs; I of course agree with all of the above. I so admire you strength of faith. you could have given up or turned to something else, instead you kept your eyes on Him. The pain must have been awful, but you triumphed. I'm so happy for you that you have all that you deserve in you new relationship. Thank you so much for sharing here and I agree that many will be comforted by you message of faith.

Dovesongs,  after all that your sister poets on this forum said about the beauty of your work, I can only add one more word, "Amen!"
If I were a woman, I could maybe say more, but there is more feminine mystique involved here than this old man can fully comprehend.
So I respectfully pass...

Willem

One of the things I admire most about people is their commitment and sharing of their experience with religion.  You have done a fine job in sharing this very personal revelation with us.  God Bless.

Throughout this poem I could feel how God comforted you, you described it so well I felt as though his arms were around me too. I am glad you had God to comfort you and carry you through this time of sadness. Then he gave to you a man who could fulfill your every need. You were blest by letting him guide you, then rewarded for your devotion. God bless you for sharing this with all of us here, it's a wonderful poem that you crafted beautifully.

Thank you all for your lovely comments.
Willem, there is no feminine mystic here, just faith and victory through pain.  In one way or another male and female alike experience painful times in our lives.  We can depend on the Lord to guide us through.
God Bless you ALL...

Your faith, depending on our Lord, has to be very strong.  So beautifully, you told how He works when we trust.  You are wise in your thankfulness to Him for His compassion, and rewards.  Thank you and bless you.

Dovesongs that was such a special poem, it really touched my heart.  I'm a visual person, and i actually imagined it all happening, and the first thing you did was run into your Father's arms, and let HIM comfort you, let HIM take care of the situation, your brokenness, your anger.  And wow look where you are now, look how He provided for you.  What an awesome testimony of faith, you have encouraged many, and by sharing this experience you will definitely help others.  Praise God eh?  Bless you.
