~Wounded Dove~

I didn't intend to "bring home another stray,"
I wasn't looking for love in this way.

Fate has its reasons, we may not always understand,
Sometimes there are no answers to the questions we demand.

Never have I known such a wounded little bird...
a life time of pain...like I had never heard.

So much sorrow, so much taken away,
So much suffering, but still you stayed.

A child denied love right from the start...
stories of loss that broke my heart.

I wanted to hold you and kiss the pain gone,
I wanted to lie with you until the day's dawn.

I prayed for the words to heal your soul,
I'd have done anything to make you feel whole.

Tell me your dreams, I'll make them come true
I have a desperate need to do this for you.

Take my hand and hold on tight,
Let me really be your angel ... your guiding light.

I'll mend and heal your broken wings...
All I ever wanted was to give you these things.

Let me return the love, faith, and trust that you gave to me,
My sweet wounded bird, my beautiful dove ... now my angel--flying free.

Janet Marie

thank you baby...you continue to inspire and heal my heart...I love you, always...(smile)

Some things cannot be explained by verses that rhyme,
They are not measured by the commitment of time.
Some emotions run too deep to be described by words,
Forgiveness and understanding-
remain the most beautiful words ever heard.

Another well done! Sometimes love is just enough to heal the wounded. God's love, that works through us!

Janet Marie,
First I'd like to thank you for the lovely responses to my poems.  You have a beautiful heart and it shows in your art.  God Bless you Janet.  I'd say your "baby" is very lucky indeed to have you.

Dear Janet Marie; I feel the same way about this poem too It deserved a reread. In these words I Hear the tender Love of God, because that is what your heart is filled with.
Thank you for the wonderful reply's to my poems. I wrote "safe for releasing", about 9 years ago, but feel that the message is timeless. You are so dear to my heart!

Janet Marie, thank you for your beautiful words of love. Many of us are like God's wounded doves. And He heals our broken wings and cares for us. And it is God in us that gives us such deep intense feelings of love as you have expressed in your poem.

Oh my goodness...I was in Todays Topics and was so surprised to see this...its hard to believe this is over 2 years old...
thank you Vacuity for reading me in back pages..I hadnt read this one myself in a long time ...its always good for us to see where we began...
thank you strbbux & Silver Streak also for your kind words. My "wounded dove" took merciful flight and is free of all that pain. He is also my sweetest muse to this day...my "butterfly DeVante' many of my poems speak of him and the profound effect he had on my life.
thank you all kindly
take care

Janet, how fortunate for us who have recently joined that someone brought this back out for us to read. So sweet and precious. It reminds me on one I just finished about a little bird. Enjoyed. Cheryl

Truly a precious work!  So touching and inspirational.  Made me think of my cousin who just lost her only child to cancer.  You've turned a loss into a beautiful gift.
God bless.
