Into the room he stepped,
Cautiously I will accept.
But when he stood 4 feet away,
I knew then he wouldn't stay.

Here I lay in my bed,
Needing help just to move my head.
Machines click, engines whir,
Without them, I wouldn't be here I'm sure.

To my disbelief I heard the preacher say,
"I don't understand how God makes a child this way."
How can you judge God until you know,
Just how much love anyone can show?

"Don't be afraid", the nurse said.
"Go stand a while next to her bed".
"Talk to her for a while."
"God will reward you with her smile."

I am God's precious gift,
Just talk to me and you'll get a spirit lift,
For when I smile you shall see,
I am the Angel God meant me to be.

Beth is 5 yrs. old and has Cerebral Palsy.  Indeed her smile will light up any room.  This isn't one of my best works, but closest to my heart. When you see someone with a disability, don't stare or be afraid, talk to them and you may just get rewarded with love.

That's a beautiful poem. God has a reason for everything and a purpose for everyone. It's not the body, it's the soul!

dovesongs...this poem touches me deeply...a beautiful tribute to Beth and anyone who lives with "being different."Thank you for sharing this with us.Janet Marie
ps...(just in case...I wanted to be sure you saw my reply to you on my"Moments Will Remain" post)...your words touched me and I wanted to thank you...I replied to you there.

Some things cannot be explained by verses that rhyme,
They are not measured by the commitment of time.
Some emotions run too deep to be described by words,
Forgiveness and understanding-
remain the most beautiful words ever heard.

A very special poem. Special children are a joy to know, wish more people could see that.

Dovesongs this is from the heart! God does have a purpose for everything. Though He didn't necessarily make people that way...it can be the things of the world. But nontheless He works His miracles through them, by that beautiful smile that lights up a room!  This brought tears to my eyes! Beautiful and heartfelt!

Thanks for the nice responses. The next time I take care of Beth I will give her your message.  Yes I do believe God has his purpose for things.  We don't have to understand it, just believe.  God Bless you all.  Anita
