I awoke this morning
to the sound of
   silent snow.
That profound silence
that you only hear,
when snow covers the earth
like a white blanket.
The stillness was complete.
And His presence was
   everywhere.
Enfolding me with the
   promise of spring.
Filling me with the
   sweet peace
of His eternal promise,
   saying:
"Be still and know that
   I am God!"

Ellie,
Many might perceive the cold of winter, and the falling of snow--as present annoyances, which have to be endured.  But I like your attitude & perception--You are able to see it as a Sign of God's all-pervasive Presence, and gentle care-giving hope & promise to our lives.  That's a Wonderful View! Thanks for sharing it with us!

Ellie i agree with David, it is such a unique way of looking at things! It's like He wraps around us like a coat in winter, keeping us warm and comforted until the promise of spring... And you know, that verse about being still and knowing that He is God has always really impacted me - it's a difficult thing to do sometimes because all the cares of the world fall around you and to stand before Him and be in His presence with that one thought, when achieved, is such an awesome thing.  Thanks for sharing Ellie, a great poem!

Ellie I so love your thoughts. I just wrote one about winter, but I posted in the open forum # 5.  You're right in the silence of winter and the beauty around, you can't help but notice his presence.
