Did not I this day look,
with tears in my eyes, at the sky,
wishing I could fly free
only to realize I couldn't?

At the oceans, I looked
wishing I could swim forever-
what is forever? what is life?
I thought to myself.

I made words come forth
not from the mind, but instead the heart-
I looked, at myself and the world,
in my own heart I searched…

I found an empty heart,
darkness and death reigned-
laughing in enmity
while I dissolved in terror-

I felt death in my body,
in my eyes, and I screamed…
where the laughter was, there
was the abyss…

falling forever in the void-
my heart sank to such depths
the oceans couldn't match…

my mind tricked, succumbed,
tripped… forever falling…
in that emptiness…

Beautiful analogy! Letting it all out takes courage. Now there's nowhere to go but up. Get ready to soar! Beautiful poem. Write more.

Love the graphic an awesome sight of His to gaze upon!  I'm glad you're letting it out and keep right on doing it.  This was deeply sad my friend, but I can say I have felt this way too! You see yourself going and falling away and can't for the life of you pull back up. I think that's when we need to call out and say God, I will take your hand, help me out of this pit!

Very well expressed!!!

Where there is faith,
there is love.
Where there is love,
there is peace.
Where there is peace,
there is GOD.
Where there is GOD,
there is no need.

Ellie-
Thank you....it's just so hard to feel like soaring nowadays......it is inspiring knowing that you find this beautiful....

Majestic-
Buck up little camper? LOL. You said it! Thank you for the inspiration.

Rebecca-
Thank you..thank you.. for the thoughtfulness that you have shown towards me....what you say makes sense......and thank you for the comment on 'expression'.

Arthur, I know that sense of falling, and the despair that knocks you into darkness where God feels a million miles away and the sadness within you consumes you.  I wrote a poem a while ago called HOPE just after I came out of this place, and as soon as I read your poem I thought of it - hope it encourages you to look up to the one who can pull you back into the light.

Drifting through my soul
darkness flickers, fades,
passes through the falling smiles.
This descent awaits
breathing the fear,
inhaling the stench,
sinking
submitting to the pull the tug
down.

Above I see your hand
reaching out
shimmers in your glory
untouchable to these
blackened hands.
And I paint a thick
coat of shame around
my hardened heart
fold myself and wait for
the chains to tighten.

Drifting through my soul
light then flickers, brightens,
picks up the fallen smiles.
This ascent awaits
breathing the freedom
inhaling the sweetness
rising
submitting to the pull the tug
up toward you.

For "my heart has heard you say
'Come and talk with me'
And my heart responds
'Lord, I am coming.'"

Bless you my friend, and leave your cares in the hands of God.
