Sometimes we're really pathetic
In our oft' misplaced envy and greed,
We wish so, to be like others
Who seem to have simply no need!
For their lives are full of affluence
And we think, "They sure have it made!
If only my life could be like theirs--
And from much of my troubles be staid!"

The Master sounded our His warning,
"Beware of your covetous greed,
For life is not made by possessing things--
But in fulfilling your genuine needs!"
Paul, a warning also did speak,
"The Love of Money(evil's root) doth snare,
Instead of the comforts of plenty you seek,
Your life will be filled with vain cares!"

So let me just go here on Record
And say an unusual thing,
I thank God for my lackings now
For in weakness, I'm made Strong in Him!
Imperfection can be a true Blessing
For it gives us a Reason to strive,
Thank You God, that my life's not so easy
As I need You, I am then, Most Alive!

(Dedicated to my Friend, KYLE)

David,
What should I say? My eyes have betrayed me. This is remarkable, indeed.
As I read the first few lines, I could feel it was clearly intended for me to be reading. I kept reflecting upon myself as I read each line. I felt a strong assocation with myself when I read this. This is not a simple feat. This is probably the first poem to have truly captured my interest when it came to looking within myself.
With all honesty that is due, I feel like a huge burden has come off my shoulders at the moment. There are a lot of things people do not realize until it is directed towards them by another person. Like this for example. I do not feel like I ever learn anything new that matters much, but this matters a lot.  What a fine message to portray in poetry format.
This is directly related to attitude. I must have faith in myself, yet I don't. I am done talking for now. This is a great piece.

Thanks for your poem. I really enjoyed your personal honesty and the courage that you have to face yourself and deal with the truth head on.
I'm working on this very issue myself and I love the way you deal with it in your poem. thanks!

This is wonderful, David! And thank you for the card!

This is a great poem . When I pray I thank God for the prayers he did not answer and for the things that he allows me to go through because He knows what is best for me. He will only give me what I can handle. He will not allow me to carry more than I can handle. We always carry more on us than we have too because he will carry it for us if we just turn it over to him. Sometimes we pray for something and don't get the prayer answered and question and get mad because we didn't get what we wanted. When we should just look at that he is watching out for us and that there is a good reason. He wants the best for us because he loves us. If we take the time that we spend worrying and being wrapped up in this world and used it to pray and read the Bible we would have more peace within ourselves and joy. Our lives would be better off because we wouldn't think about the other person who you envy or dislike and feeling sorry for yourself because you don't have it all.
I really felt lead to tell this because I feel that we all need to apply this and this poem above to our lives. We have peace and love if we would just take it from our Father above.

Thank you all for the wonderful replies and insightive comment you shared.  I know one thing-despite all of our imperfection--this is good place to really feel loved and appreciated in what we are trying to do--God bless you each & every one.   David
