Crown of Life

Lay your head in my lap daughter,
And let your sorrow disappear.
I have been calling your name child,
Did you not hear?

Yes father, I did hear.
But there were those who needed me.
Those who have not followed your word.
Those who long to be free.

These are the legacy of my life.
All the glory that I give to thee.
And I could not leave so soon,
If only one had need of me.

The Lord is my Shepherd.
So shall I be.
Ever vigilant, with gentle spirit.
Glory to God, I come to thee.

Ever faithful did I live,
With giving heart, tender and meek.
As my Lord calls, so shall I come.
My crown of life do I seek.

I wrote this in memory of my "granny"..I've never seen a more faithful christian.

There is such an inspiration in seeing such a faithful Christian as your "granny".  You have used yours well.  Beautiful poem & tribute, wonderful message.

wow that was truly a beautiful tribute to your granny... it's like she was so eager to have everyone saved and to be there for everyone she wasn't ready to die yet, but God obviously thought she'd done enough and took her to be with Him, and wow she'll be living in the glory with her faithful friend Jesus.  You've done that so well Majestic, I liked this a lot.

Majestic,
I thought of my great grandmother too! Just as dedicated and commited to the Lord and living according to His word. Kind, compassionate, and always looking out for the welfare of others. My family says I inherited her heart. I hope so because her heart was christlike in more ways than one. I feel your grandmother was all these things too.  Thanks for sharing and bringing back a "Good Memory".

How beautiful and touching!  I guess it makes us all think of someone who had great faith. I know one of those too, though she was just a friend of the family. But what an impression she made!

Where there is faith,
there is love.
Where there is love,
there is peace.
Where there is peace,
there is GOD.
Where there is GOD,
there is no need.

I liked the whole poem and especially the above.  Lot's of truth in a few words.  Just like a psalm.  Thanks.

Way to write! As I was reading this, the thing that I visualized was the parable of the talents.... it truly takes a thoughtful person to use his/her gifts for the welfare of others rather than himself/herself. A great read, as usual! A crown of life to you for this wonderful piece! I am sure your grandma must be very proud of you.
