How dare you say my past is too great a
Knowledge for you to bare!
Though you claim your love is real and strong,
You walk away.
Turn your back without a care.

How dare you say that I’ll never change!
That although the outside looks different.
Better..
The inside is still the same.
And I still carry the same name.

Well, I refuse to receive the devil’s lies and
Deception you try to tell my ears.
I refuse to give in to my worse fears.
The fear that a person is incapable of change.
That no mater what they will forever remain the
same.

For in my past there has been hurt.
Pain.  Yes! Even Sin.
But because I am saved,
In my future these things don’t dwell within.

For when I came to God and gave Him my life at last.
I confessed with my mouth.
Believed in my heart.
That all those old things and old ways would become
Things and ways of my past.
Removing all the misery and all the strife.
Making me a new creature.
Giving me a new life.

God washed me and cleansed me.
Making me whiter than snow.
Just because He loved me enough
To allow His son, Jesus, to make it so.

WOW Shirl! This was excellent! You just keep that attitude no matter what, cause you're right on! "As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us." Psalms 103:12
When you repented and accepted Jesus, you certainly were forgiven and made as white as snow, we are made that pure everytime we ask for that forgiveness, of course until we sin again. But you were made a new creature in Christ! I love this, and I sure hope you hold onto that, despite what people say! God Bless You!< !signature-->

That's right Shirleeah, tell them like it is and continue to write beautiful poems like this one.

Thanks Denise, Whtdove, Nate, and Pepper.
This poem came to me when I felt at my lowest and just plain tired of people saying that no one can change all because of believing in God. I got really fed up because it came from people I thought were friends and even family.  But I've come to realize everything that this poem states. And I thank you guys for encouraging me with you replies.  Thanks ever so much!

man shirleeah you are such a mighty women of God and I praise his name for lifting you up out of your past and giving you a new life - a future that EXPECTS change because when Jesus is in your life, He won't let you stay where you are.  I hope you have shared this awesome poem with those friends and family and with your life given a testimony of everything you have just written - God doesn't change but he certainly changes us when we ask Him into our lives.  God bless you and keep you bold for Christ.

"and the former things shall pass away."  You do become a new creature when you are born again in the spirit.  Still, breaking the flesh of old ways isn't always an easy or immediate process.  I beat my head against the walls many times wondering why I always fell into my "old" ways even though in heart I wanted to do just the opposite.  Just keep listening to the Lord and not the negativity of the world and with a truly repentant heart, indeed, you are as white as snow.
